I agree that another writing group should be started. I really enjoyed being able to improve my writing with you guys. Just a little update for those of you who were interested but I graduated from high school in May ! Yay me :-) I never thought I would make it. I'm taking at least a semester off (maybe a year) and am looking for a real job so if anyone is looking for a fresh-faced "whatever", drop me a line. I can re-locate !

Reason #23 That I Dislike Summer
during the summer, bugs come inside.
as far as i'm concerned, bugs belong OUTSIDE (and even that is questionable). inside is MY turf. i don't go around poking into their little homes, so why should they bother me in mine??? tonight, whilst watching TV in the dark (it's VERY hot here), something large and flying flew through my line of sight. i leapt to my feet and threw on the light, but whatever it was had disappeared. during the three seconds that i actually saw its silhouette, it appeared to be about the size of a large housefly or a bee, but lighter...wispier. it could have been a bee, but i think it was one of those big ugly black ant-like flying things that we discussed several board crashes ago. anyway, NOW IT'S GONE AND I CAN'T FIND IT. it lives. ask me how much sleep i'll be getting tonight. |

(((((Liam))))))) Happy Saturday! Is it as hot there as it is here? I love Summer but this heat is unbearable and I hate having the house all closed up. It's suppose to cool off tomorrow and then we're outta here on Thursday. Even though I've been off for weeks it doesn't feel like vacation unless I'm away.
(((((Biker Lou vickie ))))))))) I really have to get in here more often. |

LOL. oh believe me, all those thoughts went through my head as i sat crouched in a dark corner with the bug spray ready to rock.
but it never reappeared. now, my apartment is very small, so this bug and i would be sharing close quarters for the long, dark night. i decided to take precautions and closed my bedroom door. i had closed it the minute i'd seen the bug (because i know they know where i sleep and i didn't want any company!), so i knew my room was "safe." well, as i mentioned, it's about eight thousand degrees here right now, so closing the bedroom door basically cut off my nice through-breeze. that meant: i had one very hot bedroom. (insert your own joke here: ________________ ) once my heartrate returned to normal, i went to bed and hoped for the best. nothing happened. then at about 5:45am, the wind kicked up and my bedroom door started opening and slamming shut, so i was forced to prop it open...thereby allowing the unidentified insect access to my room if it so desired. evidently, it didn't. so, when i finally got up this morning i did a sweep of my now-properly-lit apartment and found...nothing. i have no clue where this thing went or when it might return. but all traces of its existence are gone. i hate that. LOL. happy saturday {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{les}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}! |

((((((((((vickie))))))) First, sympathy: ((((vickie)))) Now, let's get to the facts. Bugs can squeeze beneath doors, around mirrors, into the <FONT SIZE=-4>teensiest crack imaginable</FONT>. They can light inside drapes and blinds in the upper reaches of a window pane, where you never think to look. Why, just last night, I was in my bathroom on my hands and knees searching for a cricket whose song was less than lovely. I found him wedged between the wall and the backboard of the sink cupboard. He is deceased now, but between me and a <u>NYer</u> magazine, he put up a brave battle. Of course, there's always the possibility that that flying colossus squeezed hiself right <u>out</u> of your apartment. Yeah. That's what happened. <g>
Morning ((((Les)))) ((((ching)))) It is muggy here and will be hot today, but the sky has been blue.

ah, lou, i am well-versed in the hiding practices of almost all insects -- flying and otherwise. i looked in all the places you listed and more...but was unsuccessful in my search. i am hoping that, during the night when it was alone in my living room, it noticed the glow from the hallway light outside my apartment door and decided to investigate by crawling through one of the gaps along the doorframe.
as long as it's gone, i don't care how it got out. <g> {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{lou}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} p.s. congrats on your latest kill. |
