My grandfather died yesterday afternoon. There's no memorial service or anything planned, which fits right in with this family. <sigh> (We'll never know how, or even if, my dad feels about this...)
*I* am having some trouble making the mental/emotional transition. With my grandmother, there was a month's warning and I saw her in the hospital and we went there to clean out her apartment. Now, for Poppa, nothing. I'm going to have to figure out how to give myself some closure, I guess.

(((((Kathe))))) Maybe you can follow Goethe's advice. Just for your own little family, have a meal together (perhaps foods your grandfather would have liked), set out pictures of him, share memories, listen to music, say goodbye. (((((Kathe)))))
Morning (((((Les)))))

{{{{{Kathe}}}}} I'm so sorry about your grandfather going so suddenly. I like Lou's idea. It would help the girls as well as you. I'll be thinking about you, friend.<p>
{{{{{Lou}}}}} Best of luck to TheMan's brother. A triple bypass sounds scary, but it also sounds like there's lots of room for hope. You hang in there, too.<p> {{{{{Les}}}}} It's finally nice out today - a cause for optimism all in itself. I'm amazed at how much easier it is to come to work knowing the PITA guy isn't here. I don't even feel bad saying that since he's vacationing in Hawaii this week, and hopefully has a job to go to next week. Sometimes it's hard to realize the impact one person can have on your overall mood until he's gone.<p> {{{{{Friends}}}}}

The ethernet port on my powerbook is loose, and Rick took it in to be fixed, so I won't be on here much in the evenings.
{{{{{Friends}}}}} I'll still be able to check during the day, though, and Rick & Drew said I could use their computers if I would like to. :-) I'm just so used to my comfy spot on the couch, though! LOL

It's always hard to lose a piece of our pasts, like a grandparent. It's like being orphaned to our own history. (((((Kathe))))

{{{{{Les}}}}} and {{{{{Friends}}}}}<p>
You know you're having an odd day when your lunch buddy steps in wet cement at the restauraunt...<p> You know you're having a BAD day when your friend's pet toad pees all over your hand, down your arm, and onto your shoes! (I couldn't believe a critter that small could hold that much liquid.)<p> At least Survivor's on in a couple of hours! Hope everyone's day is going better than mine.

{{{{{Lou}}}}} I'm liable to post most anywhere! <g> You know it's bad when Ozzy sniffs, looks disgusted, and walks away - so I hosed the shoe off with the pressure hose outside. (I thought I'd wiped it off pretty well at my friend's house.)<p>
Hey, I have a question for all you intellectuals. WHY are they calling it "foot-and-mouth" instead of "hoof-and-mouth" in the media? It *is* only a direct threat to hooved animals, right? (A horrible, deadly threat, I realize.) I just always heard it called hoof-and-mouth as a kid, though it was not even on this continent then. But back then if someone was complaining about a mouth ailment, someone would always jokingly ask if they had hoof-and-mouth disease.

(((((biker))))) I thought hoof-and-mouth disease was anthrax, not the same as mad cow disease.
Hey (((((Phantasy)))))!! And goodnight to (((((Les))))) I wish you fun and good findings in the inspection.
