I have a question.....What is BMI? Something to do with knowing how much fat a person has. I would appreciate all and any help! Thanks! Have a great day!

BMI stands for body mass index, and it's a calculation using your weight and height to determine percentage of body fat. It can be deceiving, since people who are very muscular can have high BMIs if they just go by height and weight.
Here's a place you can check your BMI: http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/calc-bmi.htm

Every Monday, I go to the Doc's office. I got on his scale and I have gained five more pounds. I am so upset. I don't understand what went wrong this week. I walked four blocks plus around sears. Drank enough water. Doc said to take two water pills and see if there is a difference. Will post again later.

HI ya Angel. I know my number now to. Its a scary number as well. I guess it could mean a more resricted diet and exercise program. I am going back to the doc tomorrow. He called and wanted to see me. I am going to weigh in and see if any more weight gain. I am also going to beg to get my license back. This way I can get out of the house and go to the mall to walk. I am hoping by Febuary, I will be completely healed and strong enough try water exercises. : )

Oh wow!
(X(X(X(X(X(ChristyRose)X)X)X)X)X)
Don't give up ok? I saw an amazing show on Dateline.....about Al Roker, the Weather man....He went and had his stomache stapled up! But the main point is that while he was looking into, deciding and going thru this, he kept a video diary. This made more of an impact on me and to lose weight.....Ever since my mom died.....I don't have the heart to stick with a diet......Yet after seeing something like that coming from a popular person like Al Roker was inspiring! to say the least! What I am going to do is go on a campaign to release myself from being fat and lazy to being slim and trim! I deserve to see my grand-children come into the World and do some spoiling...As well that I don't want to become a diabetic with hypertension and a smattering of health problems related to being overweight! I hope that you get your license back yet in the meantime there are things you can do that are like exercises.....One is forget the vaccuum cleaner out the door and use that broom on your carpets and floors! That is a positive step.....I started doing that when I was younger and now I hate using the vaccuum cleaner LOL So why dont we get positive to get rid of the negative? You help me and I will help you? What do you think about that? Contact me via email.....hope to hear from you soon, ok? Remember to have a great day!

Hi ya Angel, I saw that to. When I was in the hospital, the floor I was on, also had patients like Al. The first few days, they had it really hard. They had this pole on the length of the bed and a trangle to pull up on so if they wanted to sit up, they pulled their selves up.
Angel.. That surgery is not for everyone. Its one surgery that you must thing really hard about. My best g/f just had that surgery about July or August. She is very ill from it. She has not lost that much weight from it. She is over 275, but only 30 lbs so far. She can only eat 1 once of food every 2 hours. When I found out she had the surgery, I wanted to kick her butt so bad. Mary is in and out of the hospital now with sevre stomach problems. Right now because of her pb they are not able to reverse. As soon as they get her PB under control she is reversing the procedure. Al was a very lucky man, his went that well. |

Ok ... during that time I didn't lose, BUT I didn't gain either so that was a plus..Three weeks ago they started a Weight Watcher's progam at work.. I joined 2 weeks ago.. went today.. and a start in the right direction ..5 1/2 #s down. Wow I even got a star. rofl They do teach you to eat properly. Not to look at it as a diet..( although the first week I did go into diet mode..and only lost 1#. not eating enough. Thought that was funny.) Knew how to eat properly. Somehow being with the group and comparing notes .. hints.. encouragement it works out better for me anyway. maybe I should change this nic to .... Runoffatthemouthtomuch

That's very cool, IRISH. We had WW at Work, too, but it got to be too competitive...and expensive. I gained back the 15 pounds I lost in WW...the program does work if you stick with it. Which I, obviously, didn't.
A friend at work is on the Jenny Craig program and doing quite well. I lost several pounds (and more inches) on the Atkins Diet, but didn't get any support while on it...mostly disparaging comments about how unhealthy it was, which also didn't help. In the end, it's up to me, and I'm doing something wrong.

((((((Liam Fan))))))) ((((((( Wolf_Angel ))))))
*Liam Fan you do need encouragement it helps you to maintain your goal. Don't give up. Every day is a new start. We can encouage each other. Wolf_Angel the same with you. If you fall off of that goal you set just begin again. Remember ... "Everything is difficult before it gets easy." Thomas Kincaide Think of the loss as they say.. 5#s is like a 5# bag of potatoes. 1# is like a # of sugar. Each 1# adds up.. We can do this together. Don't think of it as a diet, rather a change towards a healtier life style. ** Please don't set the whole weight loss, but a weight loss of say 10#s ... when you reach that do something nice for you.. ( not food wise lol) Then start towards the next goal. It won't seem insurmountable that way..... **Good Luck together we can achieve this.... ^5 **
