{{{{{Moon}}}}} I'm glad you'll be there tonight. I should be on time, more-or-less, though I'm expecting company. Hopefully they'll be gone before Cooking Chat. If it *ever* cools off, I might have to leave a bit early to walk. It goes from quite hot to quite cool in well under an hour here, usually, though this particular weather front is defying the norm.<p>
{{{{{Lou}}}}} Plaid steaks? I'm confused! <G> Really, though, I liked your story about Thomas wanting to 'ear ahma. I love that he's figured out the bilingual thing - that milk = leche. So does this means if you tell him "no" to milk, he will then ask for leche? <g> You can't blame a guy for trying, ey?<p> I found out belatedly that they had a tamale festival in SJC Saturday to raise money to refurbish the mission. They had ALL kinds of tamales, and people explaining how to make them and the history behind them. They're even talking about a tamale museum starting next year. I've only tried the tamales off the break truck at work, and like most of the break truck foods, they were too spicy for me. I'd love to learn to make a milder version, though.

{{{{{Moonie}}}}} I just realized that this upcoming Saturday (the first Saturday after July 4th) is the annual...Moon the Amtrack! <EG> I thought this was the perfect folder in which to post such vital information. <g> Location: the train tracks in front of Mugs Away Saloon in Laguna Nigel (or is it technically in San Juan Capistrano?), CA. The later in the day, the bigger and drunker the crowd gets. Year-before-last, friends of mine took a Winnebago as a party wagon - it's *that* kind of party. Someone else brought a portable jacuzzi. All ages show up, and people who think they've come to observe often end up caught up in the fun and mooning the trains. The funniest are the little old ladies who have that look of doing something deliciously naughty! ROFL! <p>
The day's train schedules, north and southbound, are posted on a board outside the bar, which is officially in NO way connected to the event. Yeah, right! As train time approaches, a nervous anxiety overtakes the crowd. Pretty soon someone yells, "train!" and people run across the street to the fence now in front of the track, hands at their waistbands, and as the train rushes by, those bold enough commit the great act of defiance that makes the day so much fun. The police are tolerant of the event - they don't even seem to much mind the occasional, short drag race up the street. Drunk drivers leaving the scene are arrested, though, which is plenty fair.<p> <font size=-4>Ok, in the spirit of Monday night's limbo game, I think I have the lead in "how low can you go?" <G></font>
