Localization
Hi - I'm Savanah from Santa Cruz, CA. There are many many groups here and around the world responding to the breakdown of the global economy. Many of them are online sharing plans and ideas for change. They encompass many different areas of concern - jobs, social services, war/peace, education, politicians/clean elections, etc.
One of the movements I personally feel committed to is localization -decreasing dependence on global transit for food, goods and services and international corporate ownership of everything we need. The movement toward localization means local banks, local currencies, locally grown food, locally made products of all sorts, community gardens, elder and child care services in neighborhoods, community organizations for health and safety of it's members, etc. If anyone is involved in a localization group I would love to hear from you. Let's share our plans and ideas and the wealth! |
