Do you enjoy penning the occasional poem? If you'd like to share one or some, we'd love to hear from you!

To Live The Adventures Of Other Men: a dialogue

Hello Ladies! I figured I would get the ball rolling and share with you all a poem I wrote several yrs ago. Goodness I think I still may have been in highschool when this was written!! <G> Also, some of you may remember it from Tapestry. Enjoy and please feel free to comment!!

~To Live the Adventures of Other Men: a dialogue~

Is it a sin to live the adventures of other men?

You sit in the corner like a Buddhist monk.
With the stench of books you've not moved in a month.
Have you no dignity in yoyur book-infested hell?
With your Shakespeare and Byron your mind's gone stale.

I've lived a thousand lives with the turn of a page.
I've felt every sorrow, lust, greed, and rage.
I've dined with kings in castles of gold.
I've been both man and woman, infant and old.

You think you are wise with your labyrinth of books?
You are nothing old man. Take a mirror and look.
You are decrepit and feeble - an ancient ill ruin.
Wasted to nil by natures own doin'.

I've sailed seven seas of sapphire blue.
I've kissed lips of red, pouty pink, too.
I've serenaded angels with the voice of streams.
I've flown with great Pegasus drinking silver moonbeams.

Your skins tainted yellow. Your eyes are now dull.
Your face so withdrawn, it looks like a skull.
I mock and loathe you invisible man.
You've wasted your life, don't you understand?

Why don't you move? Take heed of what i said?
Why don't you hear me...? Oh, God! Is he dead?

I've lived many lives - more than most begin.
Tis' it a sin to live the adventures of other men?

Okay, here's one I wrote yesterday

The background to this is that Pino has been teaching me to play the old song "Leaving on a Jet Plane" on the guitar.

<b>Leaving on a Jet Plane (Revised)

by Q-W, Feb 2001.</b>

So, you?re leaving, on a jet plane,
Well, three, if truth were told.
A, D, E7 so simple even I can play it
(kinda)
So I *know* that you?ll be fine.

So, you?re leaving, on a jet plane,
And in three weeks I?ll join you there.
A, D, E7 strum-de-dum,
(duh)
Yeah, I *know* just how you?ll do.

So, you?re leaving, on a jet plane,
And in three weeks more, we?ll come on home.
A, D, E7. Three is my lucky number,
(Yeah)
And you?re my good-luck charm.

So, you are leaving, on a jet plane.
But we do know,
A, D E7 just -
When you?ll be back again

Cool

I love poets!

They are so tolerant, so accepting, so cranky, so lofty and earthy all at once, impulsive and patient. A poet will steady her gaze until a stone flinches.

~Here Dwell The Fairies~

I have another to share with you all!! *Grin*

Here Dwell The Fairies
? by Lisa Renee'

With whispers so tiny
and magic so gold
here dwell the fairies
for reasons untold.

In glistening white gowns
and black velvet capes
hiding in gentries and
closets and drapes.

Under the stairwell
with glowing green eyes
they come from the middleland
and under the night.

Sent by sorcerers
to cast upon spells
scuffling along rooftops
dancing on wells.

They are the goblins
of an enchanted world
with mischievous smiles
and hair tightly curled.

Their ruler Athalais
a wizard of sorts
a maker of dreams
builder of forts.

Look into his crystal
or listen you may hear
the flash and chimes
of stardust in air.

Whistling and flying
wreckless in spirit
they plunge thru the villiage
like a horse and chariot.

Here dwell the fairies
for reasons untold
with whispers so tiny
and magic so gold.

This poem is intended to be silly. Please read with a froliky heart!!

Fishy Fishy, please don't pout
You know you are my favorite trout.
You splash on by with a wave of the fin
Out of the water then diving back in.

Swimming upstream then cruising back down
I watch and wait with my upturned frown
Take the wooleybugger, I cheer in my mind
I know your fishy-tricks, your sneaky kind.

My line, becomes tangled and causes great fret
I bend over to grab you (I forgot my damn net)
The fly is now crimped with the weight of your fight
My rod bending sharply--what a beautiful site!!!

Oh damn, how I wanted to lift you up high
Instead I produce a theatrical sigh
You win little fishy, you've had your say
But I will be back for another great day!!!

I would like to share with you all a poem I wrote as a memorial for my cousin Diana who passed away from cancer back in 98. She was like a second Mom to me and also my best friend.
In loving memory of Diana L. Herbert 1957-1998

Our Own Princess Di

God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not to be,
So He put his arms around you
and whispered "Come to Me".
With tearful eyes we watched
and saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly,
we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us...
He only takes the best.

My Poem
My mother recently passed away on May 17, 2001. I go to the chat room Wow-womensSpace all the time and the roomies have been a blessing in disguise; anyway, I wrote this poem about my Mother, when I was driving home from the hospital after saying goodbye ( you see my Mom was taken off Life support as she wished); so I wish to share it with all of the people, who are like me, that we need to express what and how we are
feeling.
------ -------- ------- --------
Today I Lost my Mother
--------------------------------
Did today really happen or was I dreaming?
I know in my heart her shell is gone but where is her spirit?
I can see my mom's twinkle in my big sister's eye
I can feel my mom's touch in my twin brother's hug
I can sense her vitality thru my little sister
I can sense her strength of will by my one adopted (unofficial) sister
I can hear her voice of wisdom thru my biggest sister
I can feel her compassion from my baby brother
I can see her love from my dad
but I know it when I look into the faces of those lives she has touched and loved.
