Since this place is new, I'd love to hear about it as various of you learn navigational or posting tricks and tips. <p>
For instance, it appears that html works, and that the icons are a bit dodgy. I haven't found a gif inserter, and apparently neither has anyone else. <p>
So...share your discoveries and findings about the workings of our new place here! (Definitely include any URLs or directions to any posting guidelines besides the ones in the agreement to act civilized! *g*)<p>
Thanks!!!

I found the guide for making all the smilies. You can find it <a href="http://www.wowwomen.com/boards/index.php3?action=showsmilies">here</a>

I love them already

And my favorite

I can say with some certainty that there is no gif ability.

What I've found to be quickest is to log in and then to check the "View New Messages" link.

Also, the forum jump thingamabob (I think that's what it's called) makes it easy to navigate around from one area to another.

This is a good topic, biker!

Talking

It's (((((biker)))))!!

I wandered around for several hours this morning, and after registering, I found that I wanted to change stuff. It took me awhile to figure out how to get back to my profile and preferences, and actually meant having to put in my name and password again. I'm also finally figuring out how to use the View New Messages thing. And best of all, we are here!

Hi (((((Melynn)))))

I have a couple of questions, probably for Les. First, should I log out everytime I leave the boards? I have not been logging out, but just returning with a bookmark, and I find that the board knows and greets me. But the problem I am having is that the "view new posts" thing doesn't refresh. Second question How are you getting the smilie and boldface greeting at the heading of your posts? I read the page source codes, tried it, and still couldn't get it right. That you. Over and out. (((((Les)))))

Post subject gives you the bold line. :-)

Hi {{{Lou}}} (And hi {{{Melynn}}}!)

Lou, I've found that logging out indeed helps with the new post thing. I wasn't logging out either, and had the same problem.

As you can see above, putting text in the "Post subject:" box gives you that bold line that is the subject of your post. :-) I like that feature.

no subscription list?

Is there any way to indicate that I don't care if there's new messages in a particular forum? Or to update them all as if they've been read?? There's too many folders to keep track of in my head!

Kathe, there isn't a subscription list at the moment.

If you've been inactive or off the boards for 15 minutes, it updates all the discussions and acts as if you've read them, so when you come back, all the discussions that show the new message symbol are ones that have new posts since 15 minutes after your last visit.

That's kind of good or kind of bad.. I don't think I've really decided which I think yet.. it sort of depends on the kind of day I'm having <g>

And I agree with Melynn.. it's so nice to see {{{{{all y'all}}}}}} (all y'all is a truly Southern phrase <g>) finding your way back to us
