Now here are the two crafts we chatted in the room last night....So I hope this helps you with at least one fun activity.

Making a stocking

Materials:
felt or cotton
**(enough to make the size stocking you want)

any materials i.e. glitter, glue to decorate it

scissors

needle

matching thread

Directions:

1. First decide on color and material...Some like felt whereas others opt for cotton

2. Next sketch out a design...if you want a top like an folded over sock

3. Next decide on what things you wish to use to decorate your stocking i.e. glitter

4. Now you can anything or designs on it...i.e. whimiscal or religious its your choice

5. Now using a poster board draw out a stocking the size you wish it to be

6. Making sure you have enough material for this endeavor

7. Now you can use anything from glitter or transferable pictures

8. Let your imagination be your guide

9. Now after you have drawn out your stocking cut it out this is your pattern for your material

10. Lay this on the material using a pencil draw it out and cut it being careful not to miss cut it

11. Now I would suggest adding any decorative items to your stocking before you sew it up

12. Let it sit overnight just to let the glue or glitter sit and dry

13. Dont forget a loop so you can hang it

14. Once done invert it so you sew it up inside out

15. Very carefully turn it right side out and you have your very own stocking!!

Tye Dyed Socks Gifts

Here is a good gift for six friends

* If its for ladies use ladies white socks
** if its for the guys use the men's white socks

Now you will need:
six large cups
*the kind you can buy at Dollar General store glass cups Dont use the plastic
**Sort of the size to drink a double glass
of hot tea

Cellophane paper and ribbon
Scissors
A box of peppermint candy canes
A bag of hershey chocolates
A bag of hershey chocolates
A box of hot chocolate or a box of tea
permament colored markers
A spray bottle with clear alcohol
A plastic box sort of like a cat litter box
A pair of plastic gloves

Now here is what you do:

Take the socks out of the package
Using your imagination with the colored markers decorate the socks.

*~* You may wish to wear plastic gloves to protect your hands.

Now once they are done, spray with the
alcohol and place in your plastic container til the socks are all done.

Mind you the colors will run which is
just fine.

Now go lay out your socks so they dry
preferably in a safe place away from animals and kids.
Once they are dry toss them in the dryer for about five to ten minutes this sets the colors so when washed they wont run.

Now here is how you assemble the gifts:

In each cup place your hot chocolate
packet or tea bag(s)

With a candy cane and some hershey
chocolates.

Take your socks, either stuff in the
cup or tie around the handle.(overhand knot)

Wrap up in cellophane paper with
some ribbon.

That is a simple gift costs about 20
dollars, with things you can get at the Dollar General so it dont cost a bundle.

Pet Lover: cat/dog/bird food, toys, blanket, treats, brush, shampoo

Santa's Sleigh

Ingredients and Supplies
Makes one sleigh

Royal icing
(ingredients and recipe below)

Decorating bag

Decorating coupler

Decorating tip #3

Three graham crackers
(each is four sections)

Two candy canes
(unwrapped)

Chocolate foil-covered Santa
( approximately 4 inches tall)

Associated Christmas candy

Directions:

Follow the directions on the can of the meringue powder mix to make a recipe of Royal Icing. Recipe Below**

Working quickly, put the Royal Icing into the decorating bag, coupler, and tip already in place.

Squeeze the icing on top of one graham cracker, then quickly place another graham cracker on top.

Squeeze the icing onto both candy canes and attach one on each side of the long edges of the crackers.

Carefully break the third graham cracker in half widthwise.

Again working quickly, attach half of the graham cracker standing on its edge on the back of the sleigh. ( The front has the curved portion of the candy canes.)

Carefully break apart the last half of the third graham cracker.

Quickly attach one half on each side, long edges on top of the candy

canes and short edges touching the back of the sleigh.

Let the sleigh sit for a few hours to harden.

Fill the sleigh with the chocolate Santa Claus and assorted Christmas candy.

This is an edible sleigh. Simply pull the crackers and candy canes

apart to eat Santa and his sleigh.

Note: You will have plenty of Royal Icing to make more sleighs.

Variation:You can use a glue gun to glue the sleigh together, but it will not be edible

**Royal Icing:

INGREDIENTS:

3 tablespoons meringue powder

4 cups sifted confectioners' sugar

6 tablespoons water

DIRECTIONS:

Beat all ingredients at low speed for 7 to 10 minutes, or until icing forms peaks. Tip: Keep icing covered with a wet kitchen towel at all times. Icing can dry out quickly.

Tip; use ziploc freezer bags with a decorator tip fastened in a corner. This allows you to work off and on without worrying about the frosting drying out on you.

Glitter Domes

What you need:

One jar with tight lid (any size, but smaller looks better) baby food jars.

One plastic figure (your choice) and any other plastic decorations to make a scene.

Glitter

Superglue

Ribbon and lace

Hint - Glycerin stabilizes the glitter
(but don't use too much glycerin as it might cause glitter clumping)

What you do:

Superglue the figure and decorations to the inside of lid. Make sure you leave enough space around the edge for the jar to screw down in.

Fill your jar with water, but not all the way to the top. Leave enough room for the decorations and glitter.

Put the glitter in the jar. For every inch of water you need 1 teaspoon of glitter.

Screw on the lid. For extra security you can glue the lid on.

Glue lace around the bottom edge of the lid to hide it. Put the

ribbon over the glued lace.

Yarn Scrap Ornament

What you'll need:

Green yarn

White glue

Wax paper

Buttons

1 chenille stem or ribbon

How to make it:

Lay a piece of wax paper out on the work surface.

Pour some white glue onto a paper plate or into a small bowl.

Cut pieces of yarn into varying lengths. Lay out pieces onto work surface first to be sure you have enough to make your design.

Dip pieces of yarn into white glue completely covering each piece. Squeeze of the excess so that they don?t drip. Place pieces of glued yarn onto the wax paper, overlapping each piece as you work.

Allow to dry overnight.

Once the yarn is dry, loosen it from the wax paper.

Use white glue to add buttons as ornaments. Let dry.

Add chenille stem or ribbon hanger.

Tips:
Substitute buttons with beads or sequins.

You can use white yarn and once dry, dip in glue then green glitter.

This can be a messy project. Be sure to protect clothing and have a damp wash cloth handy to wipe up little fingers.

Puzzle Wreath Ornament

If you have any puzzles that are missing pieces, they can be turned into fun craft projects! Take this cute wreath ornament for example. Turn spare puzzle pieces into a cute ornament for your Christmas tree.

What you'll need:

Puzzle pieces

Green acrylic paint

Colorful buttons

Thin white ribbon

White craft glue or hot glue gun

Green glitter glue

How to make it:

Grab a handful of puzzle pieces (middles, no straight sides) and lay them out in the shape of a wreath. Overlap a layer or two until you have enough, put any remaining pieces back for another project.

Paint the puzzle pieces with green paint. Let dry and repeat for a second coat.

Paint dry pieces with green glitter glue and let dry.

Glue pieces together in the shape a wreath, overlapping to give your wreath thickness and strength.

Tie a piece of ribbon into a bow and trim the ends. Glue to the front of the wreath, centered at the bottom.

Glue buttons to the front of the wreath, varying the colors as you go around.

Glue a looped piece of ribbon to the back of the wreath for a hanger.

Tips:

Don?t throw away puzzles just because some of the pieces are missing. There are tons of craft projects that can be made from puzzles. You can also donate them to a local daycare or elementary school art department.

You can substitute the buttons in this craft by using pony beads or other colorful beads.

If you don?t have glitter glue handy, spray the puzzle pieces with acrylic sealer spray so that the paint doesn?t rub or peel off.
