hmmm...there's an idea!!! Quilt is going along well. Another day or two of sewing and I am DONE!!! wHOOHOO!!! -- I'll send ya a picture of it!

oh...and my stupid sewing maching broke last night... the spindle that holds the thread on flew off when I was loading a bobbin! GRRR...sooo...I superglued it back on...have to let it sit for a day or so for the glue to cure...then I'll be back in action! I found a new quilt to start with blocks that can be quilted individually!! so that I don't have the same problem I just had! It's pretty cool! I found it online - it's red/white/blue/ with gold stars. I can't wait!!

I'm trying to get motivated for all the sewing I'll need to do in the next six weeks. I've promised Dad that I will decorate his new apartment for him. I will be fun, we have a lot of used furnture and outlet shops aroud here.

When he gets here I am going to ask him about folks songs he learned. He is 87.

When I was in eloementary school we used to do a dance to Jummy Crack Corn at recess. I was in chorus all through high school and played the piano in the orchestra. Also played a solo at our spring concerts. Yo yo heave ho!!!! Learned that one in my music book.

I love ""Greensleeves" also known as "What Child Is This?" Londonerry air is also a favorite of mine as well as Clair de Lune.

There was also some song about Volga Boatmen - does anyone remember that?
I learned "The Volga Boatman hen I took piano lessons. It was inone of my lesson books. When I was in elementary school we danced to the Virginia Reel (Jimmy Crack Corn) at recess. My father taught me to square dance when I was about 12 and I loved to square dance. He also taught me to waltz. Our school would have dances in the gym in the evenings and the waltz was the last dance and he would waltz me all around the edge of the floor. I loved it.

If we're doing folk music . . . . Whiskey in the Jar (An Irish standard).

I listen to a lot of both folk and traditional music, mainly Celtic, Middle Eastern and North African.

Had to comment on "Whiskey In the Jar".. Jennifer you set my heels kicking up with that one. ) I remember dancing around our kitchen with my mom. She'd be in the middle of cooking, or cleaning & would take a break to dance. Some great memories.

LOL, Irish! It's a great song and performed by so many artists, but have you ever heard the song done by (believe it or not) Metallica? They actually do a really cool version. Maybe you can youtube or google it.

Irish, my boyfriend is a huge Metallica fan and he got me into them. I just youtubed the song, and if you go into "youtube metallica/whiskey in the jar/dublin 2006", you'll see that the crowd in Dublin was into it, too. I hope you can check it out.
