Peripheral Neuralgia

Do any of you have this nerve problem that is NOT caused by Diabetes. Terrible numbness in feet and legs--even reaching into buttocks. No real pain but some cramping and awful imbalance. No doctor has helped or pinpointed the source of the problem. I had back surgery several years ago and have harware in my lower back but noone will say that's the cause?? It's gotten worse and is pretty hard to walk around. I've tried all the supplements that are supposed to help, but they don't. Everyone with this problem seems to have Diabetes. So it's puzzling.

Well, ofcorse, they won't say that's the problem....liability and all that rot....i don't personally have this problem but....if I had to take an educated guess....I'd say it's definitely a nerve issue and sometimes scar tissue build up can be the cause. Have you tried going to a massage therapist? If you can find a good one (one who isn't in it for the money but for the love of helping people), sometimes the scar tissue can be reduced a little...it might be worth a try.

Thank you for your response. It certainly could be scar tissue but Neurologists don't seem interested. They offer NOTHING but pain meds. Not even much sympathy. They have a very long way to go to solve nerve problems. I hope I live to see it.

Well Miss June I agree most people who have this are diabetics although I know some who have this arent.

There is so far nothing that I am aware of to alleviate the pain. It would help if there was a nerve block ointment that could be used. Yet alas none that I know of. I do have Type 2 diabetes and neuropathy in my right leg. So I do understand the pain. IF I do find anything to help I will let you know.

Miss June,

I hope by now that the doctors have come up with some pills for you to take. I have peripheral neuropathy and am not diabetic. I take two pills a day called Benfotiamine.It is otherwise called Vitamin B1.I hope it will help you.

Good job nicelady! Yes Vitamin B-1 or a Vitamin B complex helps the neuropatthy.
