It's absurd that Jerry Springer is still on TV, and all of these TV Judges! It's time for this country to grow up, starting with the "Grown-ups". Sorry, but I think that these shows just show how messed up this country is.

Jennifer, Jerry Springer and the others are still on TV because they have a huge following. As long as they have that following and their sponsers are making $ they will continue to be on TV.

As far as this country goes I don't think it's messed up. Sure there are people & politicians that screw up. In reality it's a pretty great country. People have the freedom to watch whatever show that they choose. We don't all have the same taste. Not everyone gets offended by these shows. Some watch them for a laugh. The people that put themselves in the position of being a "guest" on them are looking for their 15min of fame .. even if that fame is in reality shame.

Different strokes for different folks.

In all honesty I have come across some pretty amazing people in some of my travels around this great country of ours. Some not so nice but they are in the minority. Some that make you feel even more grateful for the way you live your life. It's all in prespective.

Well well, interesting way to wake up here. I like what you said IRISH. This here is a wonderful and giving country. Unfortunately there are "groups" out there that use the media to portray us as bad and evil...Borderline communists, I'd say.

Maybe if we had a "good news" channel, then people who are skeptics might not be so down on this country. Then again, maybe not.

In some countries, you are not allowed to leave, but in this country you can and that is always an option (to put it mildly) for those unhappy souls. buh bye. (waving the American flag here). One last note. It generally pi**es me off when my sons and all the men in my family fight for the freedom for some of these (blank) to trash the very place that gives them that much. Sometimes, I just have to say my peace.

Jen, I am curious about something. Is there anything you like about your country? I have yet to hear a positive word. Just curious.

I do absolutely agree that Jerry Springer's show is trash! All of it and it is inappropriate for children to be exposed to that type of thinking, heck it's inappropriate for adults.

But it is not "the countries" fault. Everything is not the countries fault. people are individuals and have to make their own choices. I would not want my country telling me what I can or cannot watch on t.v.

1st DACDjr you did not cause a ruckus.. what you did in reality was to get us to have a dialogue. sistergirl bless the men in your life that have served this great country of ours. My husband served in the ARMY, my sil was in the Marines, my sister was a WAVE.
This is a great country. I am really really tired of people putting it down. We have more freedoms, we have a lot more choices, and we come & go as we please. We get to vote & yes our vote counts. We are in a country were we can speak our mind without fear of retribution. Sure the economy is bad. Look around the world most of it is having problems with their economy. May God bless the great UNITED STATES OF AMERICA & Her people, esp those fighting for us to keep the freedoms we have. We don't have a Wall up, we can travel from one part of this country to another freely.

Sorry all. I love the people in this country (aside from Jerry Springer, of course). My problem is with the greed mostly, especially from large corporations. Didn't somebody say not to talk about politics or religion? OK, I'm done. Sorry again.

It's ok Jennifer, You didn't specify that before & it seemed like you were down on the country as a whole. Anyway.. religion & politics are not off bounderies here. Love a good debate. It's good to be able to express our views, or just to play the devil's advocate to get responses.

Doesn't mean we don't like each other, just another way of expressing our differences. We can't all be exactly alike in our likes & dislikes. Then life would really be boring... sort of like the "Stafford Wives".

That's cool, Sis. I know there was a saying "My country, right or wrong". But, what I say is "When there's something wrong, we should fix it." It doesn't mean that I don't love the country, I just think that it can be better. And no, nothing was directed toward you. I've had so many posts here and the other place, and I think the per centage of my posts downing the country, compared to everything else I've put out there is small.
