Commercials have become so intrusive. I am going to add a program to the new computer so I can take advantage of the programs that eliminate commercials and record on DVD. Current regulations allow 8 minutes of commercials in a half hour. And commercials are not 60 seconds anymore, they are between 10 and 30 seconds. Not only do they take up more time, they bombard you with messages. What I want to know is why the really good commercials that are released during the superbowl, rarely get on the air. Makes no sense to me. Have you noticed that news shows, local and national, have fewer and fewer real news in them? Aggravating is not a strong enough word for it.

Hmmm, i was raised ( with intend, and not for religious reasons either) without a TV and i have never learnt to appreciate that medium as part of my life. i get bored within minutes, restless and walk away, i feel it leaves me braindead LOL
never bought one till i had a child and even she can go without no probs. PC is a different story HAHA, thats interactive and i can pick and choose what information i want to access, thats why i love it Mum used to say TV is like a precooked meal.... just heat it up... no imagination required. i liked that analogy.

LOL!! Me too Cod... and I'm even ok with meals that come in a box that don't have to be cooked (ie. Lunchables). To each their own though eh??
We rented and watched movies the last three days cuz there is NOTHING on tv right now... is there?? What weekend shows do ya'll watch?? I used to LOVE to watch Cops at 7 every saturday night..but now that Lance and I are living together...I gave up cops and he pays for all the movies we watch...(fair trade in my book!! LOL) so ... what to do on a saturday night after the kids are in bed?? *weg*

LOL.... i often eat precooked meals, as to me cooking is not high on my agenda, but still can't get the TV incorporated into my life....
Mum was a brilliant cook and loved it so to her a precooked meal would have been an insult

I'm the precooked meal type LOL! I really didn't start watching a lot of TV until I ended up on disability. I love cable, but it still amazes me that with 300 channels there are times when there is nothing on TV. If I had to give up my computer or my TV, there is no question I would give up the TV. But, I would miss it! We get all the movie channels because of my disability. I rarely feel well enough to go out, so budgeted entertainment money pays the cable fees.
What does anyone think about Stephen King's new TV series? (Sorry, I do know the name of it, but I'm having one of those days and can't remember it.)

The new series is Kingdom Hospital. I read the book it is based on. It was very good. I watched part of the show we taped. It's ok. But right now I don't seem to be watching much tv.

crazy...don't ya find that there is something from the book that doesn't translate in the movie for Stephen King?? I always find the movies lacking when I watch them...so I quit watching them.

King didn't write Kingdom Hospital, Elizabeth Druse wrote it. The twist king added (sorry if anyone didn't know) There is no vampire in the book. That's from the mind of Stephen King. As for his movies I don't watch them. They scare me! But I love his books!

LOL! I just assumed he wrote it since his name was all over the promos... but I do love his books too! What is your favorite?
I think mine is "The Stand" right now anyway.

My favorite is The Stand and I liked the tv movie that was made. Usually, I find King's movies simply do not compare to what my brain conjurs up when I read his books.
I did see most of the original Danish series that was based on the book. Apparently King watched it while hospitalized (or before) and working on the US tv version occupied his time. Got to admire someone who was so severely injured working that hard. When I'm sick, I just want to curl up in a little ball.

Can you watch same programs on TV even though you live in the different states in USA each other?

Yes gsf, although because of the time difference they're not always on at the same time.
It was nice to see American Idol finally getting down to the real competition. The only thing I found disturbing was that Jennifer Hudson was one of the three lowest vote getters. If she'd been voted off and Leah Labelle left on, I think I would have lost it, lol. There were two or three others that I thought deserved to be on the bottom other than her. Just my opinion of course. Did anyone else see it?

I saw it and agree with you. There are several really good contestants and several that I wonder how they made it in at all. Believe it or not: Gregrr, the typical action/adventure man, is more hooked on it than I am!
The one that I really like this season is LaToya London. Who is your pick?

I haven't totally decided. I like LaToya London, Jennifer Hudson, and Jasmine Trias. Also, I think that George Huff really "tore up" Sittin on the Dock of the Bay this week. I think that if he can find his niche, he could be a contender. Frankly there are 3 or 4 on there that I'm amazed have made it this far. There have to have been some better ones that just got overlooked or something, lol. I hope that by next week I can settle on one to root for, lol.
