There was a call over their radio. The paramedics said they found an abandoned baby, apx~ aged 3-4 months. Chilled and exposed and not terribly responsive. Jump cut to outside and Abby going ballistic waiting for the ambulance. We both thought the mother was a Munchausen-by-proxy case and had snatched the baby and dumped, then came back. She seemed to Susan Smith to be real.

I had that same feeling, to be honest.

I am sitting here listening to Jimmy Buffett sing "Bank of Bad Habits."

There is a spring-like breeze outside. Drew commented on it first thing, and then the neighbor lady said "Spring is in the air!" when we had to go back home because I'd forgotten my computer <g>

Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know.

Then it was too late to stop at Starbucks. :-( That's okay...I can use those points elsewhere instead.

I went four points over yesterday in my daily point tally...but the day before I had less and the day before that I had 15 (lots under) so I figure I'm okay.

(They're all going, 'huh?')

You know roo and Liam, I NEVER thought anything but "concerned Mom" about that woman. I think the whole baby snatching was to add some drama to Dr. Whatshername? (the gf of the cute doctor). <G>

Abby is the short-hair brunette who had a fling w/ Luka (who doesn't live on the second floor.) Abby is now the nurse because dippy exhubby didn't pay ger med school bill on time, so she lost the semester rotation and acts as a nurse. (She was John Carter's sponsor until she fired him.)

The cute gf? The shrink with curly blonde hair?

roo, the shrink is kinda cute, but I've never been a fan of Cari. I think it's her voice, or attitude, her sense of humor (NONE!).....now her lack of loyalty and courage.

This has been a heavy morning already, and it's only about 10 a.m. here. The guy from work who I eat lunch with sometimes, but who is our least literate writer, called me at 9:30 to tell me he'd tendered his resignation this morning. Whew! He's the one I thought they might fire a couple of weeks ago, and I knew he was job-hunting because I'd done his resume for him several months ago. He called yesterday to see how I'd fared at the dentist, which was both nice and irritating, and didn't even hint he was resigning today. He said it's not common knowledge at work, but he wanted to tell me himself. That makes me feel guilty because I decided a long time ago he was a PITA and only kept up the lunches and stuff out of loneliness and habit. So, he asked me not to tell anyone until it makes the rounds on its own. That's reasonably easy to do since I work at home today and Monday, but I expect I'll get a call from my boss at some point "telling" me, and I'll just tell him that the guy called this morning, but swore me to secrecy. It won't do *any* harm to my boss to wait, and he'll be elated with the news, so there's no problem with sitting on it for a bit.<p>
At least it should give me some patience working on the resigner's current ugly project to know that it's the *last* ugly project I'll get from him. Sorry if I sound callous, but it's tough when someone is an iffy-to-okay coworker/friend, but a miserable writer and a PITA at work - one who always stirs the pot and grills people relentlessly for gossip. It was even a bit crummy of him to call that early to tell me his news, though I *was* up and working.<p>
The good part of the news is that he left for a better gig, so it's just as well they didn't fire him over that project last month. This way, he has no reason to hold grudges, and the karma is good because he's off to something better without the stigma of being fired. He declined to elaborate on the "better gig" until news gets around, which is fine, because he's the type that will tell me eventually, if for no other reason than to gloat. It would make my life easier if he got a gig in another area, but hey, none of this is for my convenience.<p>
Geez, Les, I write a *tome* about someone I feel very ambiguous about, while you managed to make us all sad and empathetic with one sentence about Danielle. Maybe it's the ambiguity that I'm trying to sort my way through by writing this to you guys. I'm just glad he quit before they fired him - so much better for *everyone* that way. I'm relieved.
