There are many theories on this but in my opinion the simple definition is that politics means to know about your rights and to serve others honestly.

Hi Aiden. I'm the nutty one here. To prove it, I'll tell you what I think about politics. I would love it if this country became a true democracy. I'm in favor of totally doing away with our Party system and have candidates run on their own merits.

I am from India but am amused to see similar reactions about politics in United States. We in India hate our political system that is corrupt and castiest and divides the society. But we also realise that it is the best system we can have and that is why the percentage of voters is very high each time there are elections. We got to live with professional politicians who come into politics to make money and not to change the society because to make money they have to deliver something to people. The money they make is the cost that the society incurs in having rulers who subject themselves to scrutiny every now and then.

Politics means to know about the rights of your self and others and if you are a active politician then it means that you have to know about the right of others as well in serving way.
