Hi burningroses:-)

When I make baskets for folks, I go for things I know they can always use as well as the fun stuff. A set of kitchen towels, potholders etc to match their new place, colorful scrubbies, extra washcloths, if they have a flag pole, a new flag. If kids or animals are in the picture, something for them like new crayons and coloring book, or a toy for the pet.

I've done up a housewarming basket with new kitchen gadgets or bathstuffs.

My mother has lymphoma.She will undergo an operation for transplantation.What is the transplantation for the patients of lymphoma?Could anyone let me know that?

Hi gsf

I am not sure what other forms of treatment your mother might be receiving, but if she is undergoing chemotherapy, it is likely that her doctor has recommended a bone marrow transplant. This is because high-dose chemotherapy uses very high doses of toxic drugs to kill all possible tumor cells. These high doses all kill most of the bone marrow and as a result, patients are given a bone marrow transplant to restore their ability to make new red and white blood cells.

If you have additional questions, I would suggest that you write them down and have your mother discuss them with her doctor. If she is comfortable with the idea, you can accompany her to her appointments so that you can also get this information. Sometimes when patients are worried, having a family member go with them to the doctor is helpful because that family member can take notes and/or better remember the answers and information the doctor is giving.

I have been busy so this post is a few days late, yet I have to tell ya'll something wonderful happened to me!

You see I have met up with a few roomies, one in particular! She is like a sister of my heart! There are many similarities we share. Whenever we can get together just to chat or have lunch whatever, we try.

Well we had one this past Tuesday. She came over to pick me up for lunch and to drop off the newest member of my family.

Her name is Wen-da-yah-ho......a baby guinea pig who is named after a song I happened to be singing that very day. Not only did my sister of my heart give her to me, she made sure I was equipped with an aquarium mulch food and water bottle.

Then she took me out to lunch!

I tell ya all I gave her was a deer skin that had been given to me from my daughter's friend dad.

We spend a lot of time chatting usually via phone twice a week. She is a wonderful friend great sister of my heart and I hope I am able to make her as happy as she makes me.

I just wanted to share this with all of you who just read the boards. There are unique wonderful gifted people out there in the world to meet. I hope ya'll get the chance to meet up with one.

My friend is living in Thailand.I want to see her.But I am afraid to go to Thailand because I can't speak Thai.Have you ever been to the countries where people speak the language which you can't understand and had a hard time?And I am searching for the message boards on internet which we can talk about news,daily life,education,social problems,and so on with Thai in English.Could anyone know them?

If you can get information from your Ministry of Foreign affairs, I would recommend doing so. This information will include information about travel advisories, innoculations or vaccinations you should get before you go, warnings for travelers and useful advice.

This site has information about money and costs, culture, activities, history, environment and more. It does not have a message board, but there are links to other sources of information.

I have travelled to places where I did not know the local language well, but a phrase book will help you with common expressions. Travel with a group of people, use common sense, avoid places you do not know, and trust your instincts. If a situation doesn't seem right, it probably isn't safe.

I would recommend that you photocopy your travel documents and your passport. Keep your passport with you and in a safe place at all times, and have your friend carry the copies. Do the same for her. This way, if you have difficulty or become separated, you can go to a consulate or embassy to request help.

Keep valuables at home.

Do check with your doctor or health clinic to find out about any precautions you may need to take before going. For some destinations, you need to get vaccinations (sometimes more than one for the same illness) and these need to be spaced apart. When I travelled to Mexico, I need to get two typhoid vaccines and I had to plan them far enough in advance of my trip: the first one a few months before and the second a month or so before leaving. Your health clinic will have the information you need.

I'd advise you to check with the airline, but perhaps the list at http://www.channelgroup.org/wjpassen...ain_search.htm will help you determine what you can -- and cannot -- bring on the aircraft. Some metallic things such as nail files and clippers are prohibited in carry-on luggage aboard some airlines. Aerosols and other containers (such as hairspray and insect repellant) whose contents are under pressure are also restricted. I'm not sure what else. Do check the list.

It is specific to WestJet Airlines but the travel tips are pretty standard, I would think. Check with your travel agent and with your airline to be sure.
