You remember Bush's oh so ingenious plan of giving tax money to religious (read "Christian") organizations? Now he is fighting for their right to discriminate while using those tax dollars. If nothing else interests you politically this year, I think this is an issue that everyone should write their reps about. Church and state should remain separate!

Depends on who you ask Some meet in groups called covens, others attend universal churches. Most of the wiccans I know are solitaries but even the few who belong to covens have personal altars at home.

Ostara/Spring Equinox March 20th
March 20th is the first day of spring this year and I'm doing something different. I've decided to reserve this week for spring cleaning, using the time to concentrate on positive energy, and we're having a small party on wednesday. Nate picked out the cake, frosting and toppings and we're taking some over to his little friends too.
So far our house is looking pretty good What is everyone else doing?

I practice the old ways, those of the ancient celts. I don't agree with many things wiccan, besides it's a relatively new "pagan" concept, started by a man (which I must admit irritates me) in the late 20's early 30's. By and large paganism is woman/female based, worshipping the earth which is female. However the largest concept is balance, similar to the oriental religions of positive female and male energy or yin and yang. I also throw some of the Tao in there, because it suits me <G>

I didn't proof-read my previous post very well. When I said oriental religions, I meant to say oriental philosophies. Big difference to me, maybe not to others

Whoa didn't know this list existed........
It seems that this list has been quiet for quite some time. I myself am a practicing occultist/left hand path/eclectic pagan and have been for a good few years now or so......what other paths is everyone interested in/following if any, and what got you into the Pagan way of life...........?

Left hand path....then you deal in the darkness rather than the light. at least this is my concept. If not, please explain ok?
I began the old ways very young, it was never a "lark" to me but a way of life. it's always made sense to me, being of the earth, balance of nature, taking care of the entire universe, rather than just human needs. I've never felt or believed humans are special, we are simply a part of the universe. Sometimes I don't even feel humans are more intelligent either, if we were there would be no wars, no global warming, no trashing or over use of resources. |

we have an interesting twist down under in that the wheel of the year is reversed.
i have a copy of a painting that i had an artist friend reverse for me, so the month correspond to the sabbats according to the southern hemisphere. anyone planned something for the upcoming sabbat?

Hi Savannah!
I always do something whether with others or by myself. Often since I'm a traveling nurse, it's solo. I meditate, take cleansing baths and do cleansing rituals, talk to my inner voice and hope I hear it. Guess GlitterboxUK never checked back. |

I myself think it's about balance, there is no balance in christianity, it's all male. Yes, I'm a non christian, and will remain being a non christian for the rest of my life.
Mostly I'm sick to death of those who think women are lesser, women are evil, women are the result of evil or temptation. |

Sabra, Never have I been taught that women are evil or that we came about because of temptation. It's certainly not Christ who teaches that. Rather it is taught by men who are insecure in who they are.
A true Christian would hold both women and men in the same esteem. Not one better than the other. A true Christian is not one that points a finger at another and holds them in disrespect, but one that accepts a person female, or male for who the individual is. Not because of gender. I believe in balance. IN balance we are accepting of each other. If people continue to knock others for their beliefs, or lack of then they are no better than those they are putting down. As with love we don't choose who will be our love... that love chooses us. Whether it is same gender, or man & woman. Love is love and not one of us is better than the other, therefore we should not judge.
