I rarely get that 3 PM slump anymore Liam. I wondered if it was the diet or the water intake, maybe both? I found since I eat a piece of fruit and some granola for breakfast and a salad for lunch, I have more energy than I did before. I also get to snack between times on certain fruits and vegies. Actually I'm supposed to eat something every 3 to get my sugar regulated. That's been one of the hard parts of this whole diet. I'm used to eating 3 meals a day, not 6 small and healthy ones. It's working, so I can't complain!

My Experience with Meal Plans

For awhile we were making bi-weekly menus and it really helped cut down on fast food. Stopped doing that, and went back to eating every other night at the pizza or hamburger shop. Even nights when I'm doing absolutely nothing, it just seems more convenient to order out. Well, we're back to our menu plan and it is really helping out. We've put a good deal in savings too. It's amazing how much money it saves making a hamburger instead of buying one premaid, they taste better too!

Hey everyone!
You should all seriously consider being vegetarian and preferably vegan. It is so easy to keep the weight off if you do that, you don't even have to think about it. And once you get into it, you become satisfied with what you eat and don't crave the sweets and junk food.
Meat substitutes (for protein) include beans, tofu, tempeh, and nuts. These don't have the loads of saturated fat and cholesterol that cause all the problems like obesity, heart disease, kidney problems, and liver problems. Many people think that they don't taste good, but if you get some good recipes and maybe even attend a cooking class, you will really start to enjoy them and how great they make you feel!
Calcium can not be absorbed from milk because the large amounts of protein causes an acidic condition in the blood which leaches minerals from your body such as calcium from your bones. This is the cause of kidney stones, and is why they are most common in meat-eaters and virtually nonexistant in complete vegetarians. Calcium is abundant in dark leafy greens, broccoli, almonds, chick peas, and soybeans (among others).
The main thing you should be eating is good-quality carbohydrate, such as whole brown rice. Carbohydrates fill you up so you are satisfied with a good amount of food, and of course they are not fatty. They provide your body with a good, clean-burning source of fuel, which is slowly changed to energy as your body needs it. Stay away from simple sugars, as these are converted to fat when you eat excess and are converted to energy far too fast, causing your blood sugar to plummet as soon as they are burned up.
I have been a vegan for 8 years and am easily staying fit. I am very eager and happy to help you out if you have any questions. Please e-mail me at kelmar7@hotmail.com if you have any comments or concerns of any kind!

Okay, I've given this a lot of thought. I fell off the wagon when I did so well for so long. (I still have not had soda though and that's been over three months now, so that's a yipee.)

When I'm busy, I tend to take the easy way out as far as food goes. I know things that work for me, but trying to do it alone is what sucks. I'm sure there's other busy people out there like me who just are too exhausted to worry about "healthy" food.

How do you cope with it? Is there anything you have found that works for you? I used to take the time to make healthy meals and freeze them, but I've not done that in a while because it felt like I was eating the same thing every day. Any ideas out there?

Yes Creative Scrawl there is! Its' called variations! Try every week to vary your diet with different foods, even ones you have never had before. This will open your senses to a new delicacy. Taste! You can experiment like I have been learning. Plus I watch occasionally the FoodTv network. It tells me the things out there to try My latest explorations are on spices and how to use them in different ways. As well as learning more about herbs and their uses! Oh yes by the way, I lost four pounds this week! Wooooohooooooooooooooooo /e does the Happy Dance! Have a great day!

Question Does anybody Know?

It seems like no matter how many changes I make or how much progress I accomplish I alway have a bad day now and then any take two steps back. I saw an ad for "diet rescue pills" that these skinny girls were taking after a fatty meal or a bad day. I am hesitant to go out and try them though. Has anyone here heard of them, or used them? Do they really work? Any advice would be appreciated. thanks and good luck!

I'm not dieting any more. I joined Curves and am working out three times a week. If this doesn't change anything, well, I guess I'm at my right weight!

And I wouldn't trust any diet pill on the market...no way.

Be very wary of anything containing ephedra/ma huang. I'm sure we've all seen the news about the death of the Baltimore Orioles pitcher, but it's been known for several years to cause heart problems, and can be addictive. The best thing you can do is be informed. If you see an ingredient that doesn't look familiar to you, look it up.

Here is my two cents worth......

Yesterday I saw the Ricki Lake Show....On it was about the deadly diet pills Ephedra or Ephedrine.....ma huang.

I personally never liked the way this type of herb, plant drug (whatever you want to call it) made me feel. So I didn't take it....The other day I realized I might of taken it so I checked it and I was right.

I do my best to stay away from certain ones but you just never know til someone dies from it. I usually only take multi-vitamins with ginseng, calcium, potassium, cayenne pepper and one for Woman's hair, skin and nail protection. But nothing else!

These are vitamins that I take while on my current diet......LA Weight Loss.....Now that is an expensive thing for some of us poor ppl but they will take a deposit then I make payments.

* Please note if you stop going due to a medical reason after paying for your take off weeks make sure to ask them to put your weeks on hold. Cause I didn't know about this and the fact the death of my mother isn't a medical reason, I lost weeks. But I know that LA Weight Loss works for me.

I also checked out the Total Lean diet pills. That is Ephedra Free! I had a laboritist check it out and it is!

Needless to say, On my diet and vitamins plus working out one hour per day at the gym is working for me! The thing is that you have to change your bad eating habits to good ones. Eating once a day doesnt work nor does eating fat foods like breads and sweets. Plus not drinking water at all doesnt help.

So drink water. Take a little bit from each of the food groups. Of course you have to exercise as well! LOL

With the changing of the types of foods you eat with increasing of water and exercises helps shed the pounds.

That is what works!

So make the commitment and just do it!

Get Positive!

If I can do it despite nonsense and etc so can you.......

Just Do It!

Have a great day!

YOU KNOW IT'S TIME TO LOSE WEIGHT WHEN: * You can't see your
moccasin strings anymore * You "duck" during the duck and dive and
you can't get back up * You find yourself bringing zip lock bags
and a sack to the powwow feast
* You get in line twice at the powwow feast and lie by saying, "this
plate is for my grandma who's sitting in the car," and you don't realize
she just went through the line 10 people ahead of you. * You can't
fit your choker, because you no longer have a neck * Your family
has to stop half way to the powwow to replace the springs on your car
* The car naturally tilts downward on the side you always ride on
* The youngest kid with the shortest legs has to sit behind your
seat, because you have to have the seat pulled all the way back to fit
your beefy legs into the car
* You eat Indian Tacos like potato chips * You don't even feel
your mosquito bites * You have to "rock" a few times to get up out
of your chair * People mistake you for a teepee when you wear a
white tshirt * You have to "lift" your stomach to show off your
new beaded belt buckle
* You order a coke and the waitress asks, "Diet?" * You almost
pass out in the sweathouse using only one rock * You get scared
your belly button might come untied * In a powwow crowd of 1,000
people, everyone stops you to ask your advice about the best food stands
AND where's the best fry bread stand
* Other dancers use you for shade in grand entry line * You
lose a $1,000 dance contest because your excess didn't stop in time with
the drum
* Your buckskin dress looks like you're still sitting down even if
you're up walking around
* You have to have your parade horse backed up next the car so you
can climb up on the hood of the car and get on * Your parade horse
is a "Clydesdale"

The best advice is listening to your own instincts. As well as asking for a doctor's opinion when you are there. Take food in moderation and increase on exercise and water. Some days I am doing great and sometimes not. But I have to keep on and not let the 'not' days stop me from reaching my goal weight. When I do reach my goal weight, I am going to have a party! Of course all of you will be invited since I will ask to have a chat online party. LOL Smile and make people wonder what you are smiling about! LOL
