(((((Liam))))) I don't see a book up there. I see some articles though. Sadly in our school, the kids that are catered to are the ones with behavior problems and the ones that are struggling academically. If you're well behaved and intelligent, you're pretty much left to your own devices. My son is the one that is always assigned a seat next to the bullies and behavior problems because the teachers know that he won't join in the behavior. That's great for the teacher, it SUCKS for my son. I'm tired of my son being crapped on because he's WELL behaved, ya know? Anayway, thanks for looking for me.

I can't find the book that I bought our son, but this looks like a good one:

The Bully, the Bullied, and the Bystander: From Preschool to High School, How Parents and Teachers Can Help Break the Cycle of Violence
by Barbara Coloroso

As far as having your son next to the bullies, my suggestion is go to the school and tell them you insist on having him moved away from the kids who are bullying him. That is nonsense...his job is not to be the catalyst, to make the teacher's job easier. In a positive way, make it known that you realize what's happening, and that you don't want your child to be the scapegoat any longer. The minute he decides he isn't going to put up with the bullying and retaliates, you can bet *he'll* be perceived as the problem.

I've done that Liam. I was told that they have a big class and they could not guarantee that he wouldnt be seated next to, or at least the at the same table as, the problem child at some point during the year. In the situation last year, that kid picked on whoever he was sitting next to, so I wonder why he was seated next to anyone? This year it hasn't been an issue so far, but I did the same thing, I let the teacher know that I didn't want Thomas to pay the price because he was a well behaved kid. We'll see whether he listened to me. Thanks for the book title, I'll look into it.

And I found the book I bought for my son, which worked *to a point* ... as long as the teachers were accepting of the methods employed in the book.

Sticks and Stones: 7 Ways Your Child Can Deal With Teasing, Conflict, and Other Hard Times

When I was a child, the children tended to bully those who didn't act like others were doing or were conspicuous, especially, were often praised by teachers or ranked high in a class. If a child told a teacher that he/she were bullied, the bullying were more violent.Teachers couldn't stop it.When I was in a fourth grade of elementary school,I made a new friend.I usually spent a time with her at school every day. After that, about five students hid my shoes or wouldn't talk with me because she and I were good friends to each other and they felt it conspicuous. In addition, even students who were always kind joined the bullying thogether or intended not to be related to it and do nothing. If they didn't do so,they were bullied, too.I was afraid that if a teacher knew that they were bullying me,the situation would be more serious. So I didn't ask my parents and teacher for their advice then.If I get married and have children in the future,I want to be a mother whom they can trust and talk with whatever happens to overcome the hardship together. To get rid of bullying may be difficult. But now I believe that everyone has consideration for others and we can realize it by talking with each other.
