Sister, I know where he's coming from. In this country now, the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, and the middle class is becoming poor.

The one thing I love about my country is you can be dirt poor and make something big of yourself. It takes determination and a desire to change things.

I don't know who this guy is and don't have a warm feeling about this thread. I think I will check out the more fun threads now.

But, Sister what percentage of the dirt poor actually accomplish that? The middle class for years in this country has been the backbone, and now that backbone is being eroded because of corporate greed. I talked to a postal worker today, and he said that the postal service wants to go to more part-time help than those that have been there for years - because they wouldn't have to give them benefits. That's what's going on all over this country, especially in big corporations.

That is true Jen, and it's been going on for decades. Another way to keep from shelling out money. Not good, I agree. We're not perfect, but then what country is. I wouldn't move for anything.

OK Jen And realize there a lot of other countries that feel the same way about their homeland. It's a pride thing.

Hi Sister! I haven't totally dropped it because you made a great point. Every country has people that feel proud about their country. In Germany, their National Anthem was "Deutschland Uber Alles". It was taken away for awhile because it translated to "Germany over All", and those outside of Germany after WW2 thought that it was an anthem that promoted Germany over other countries. But actually, the anthem was about loving Germany. The anthem is back. Everyone has a certain amount of pride about their countries. Now, I have to ask Georgie when "Waltzing Matilda" will become her official National Anthem. Unofficially, it already is . . . .

I'd love to have Kowalski chime in on this one. The Berlin wall came down, Communist China that was hated for so long in this country is now maufacturing a huge portion of the products that we purchase here now, but what about Cuba? Cuba is 90 miles from us. We should be friends. There would be so much to gain for both countries if we normalized relations.

I agree with Jennifer; both countries would benefit from good relations.
