{{{{{Terri}}}}} I pretty much agree with you on "Kiss of the Dragon." I *like* Bridget Fonda and Jet Li, and I like karate movies, but this one seemed too, what...sterile? Bridget was the only one with an ounce of soul in the movie, and played the junkie hooker well, but the movie itself was pretty boring despite all the action.

(((Biker))) - I must disagree with you on Bridget's portrayal of the hooker with a heart of gold, I thought her acting was hideous. I really think she has talent but it just is not being cultivated. The storyline and plot are weak, weak, weak in this movie. The actors sounded like 4 year olds repeating their lines for the preschool Christmas play. I am being harsh but the whole thing was bleak.

For sheer entertainment this does it. Tim Burton's humor is ever present in a wildly fantastic storyline. I must say as an afficiando of the firt Planet Of The Apes I was constantly comparing at first, but it is obvious that no comparison can be made of these two films. Of course the window is left open for a Planet Of The Apes II.

...but I only just yesterday saw it. It is a fascinating take on a man who suffered a head injury during an encounter with another man who was raping his wife. The injury results in the loss of short-term memory; that is, our hero cannot make new memories. This "condition" is the grounds of the story (and the source of dark humor), as he searches for the man who raped and murdered his wife. The entire tale, however, is told backwards. I wondered how much confusion this reverse telling would cause, but the director uses careful cues so that the working back to the story's beginning creates suspense and finally satisfaction. If you get a chance, see it.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Magicians. We rented it because nothing else was around, and it was genuinely funny. The beginning is so intense! LOL and well, I guess you'll just have to see it.

What's up Doc? We took our boys ages 8 and 11 3/4 to see Cats and Dogs. I don't think it is all that violent, but it does have some fighting and weaponry. I think that over all it is just too much for a 3 year old to understand. The plot is too convoluted for one that age. If it was me, I would wait for a movie like Toy Story or something. I think by 8 they are old enough for this movie.

On another note. I saw Bounce and Pay it Forward Recently. I would skip both of them, they aren't worth the effort involved in watching them. Ben Affleck is always nice to look at though.

Saw "Unbreakable" on DVD and thought it was interesting...I expected more at the end (I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it), but it was still a mild surprise.

Actually, I felt pretty much the same way about unbreakable.
I saw Thirteen Days on video yesterday (plain old VHS, no DVD yet, sigh!), it was interesting, and a little bit long, but also scarry if that?s the way country?s communicate with each other... I was wondering how much of it was based on actual facts.

We saw the Mexican last night, and although it wasn't the greatest story ever sold

it was entertaining in parts. There is one big surprise in it, but the ending is kind of cheesy. One thing got on my nerves though...does Julia Roberts have ANY role where she doesn't cry?! I can't remember any...hmm, maybe Erin Brokovitch?

I asked that same question once about James Dean...granted, he only did three movies before dying, but he cries in every single one.

Some actors/actresses are just very convincing cryers, and I suppose the directors want to exploit that talent?

Stayed up late this past weekend (late seems to be earlier the older I get) to watch "For Whom the Bell Tolls". I had forgotten the cheezzzzzzzzeeeeee acting in the movie and ended up laughing through quite a bit of it. Ingrid Bergman is pretty, but who ever told her she could act????????

Wow...I guess I have never heard someone say Ingrid Bergman couldn't act!

Then again...I've never really been able to watch Casablanca, and maybe that's why?

Ms. Bergman does a decent job in Casablanca (one of my favorite movies). I was just amazed at how awful her acting was in 'bell tolls. I suppose a lot of it came from the expectations of the movie goers at the time. Exaggerated drama certainly appeared to be 'en vogue back then.
