Priss, firstly did you like my previous post? And to to your question - I liked Barack's speech. It seemed liked that he was reaching out for a compromise. He mentioned that he was working with Mitt Romney on an issue, and I like that. This country needs both parties to work together. I started to listen to the response, but turned it off. Rubio is a loser, and the Latino community won't support his issues whatever his name is.

We should rid ourselves of political parties and become a true democracy that votes for candidates based upon their personal beliefs. I consider myself to be basically a Libertarian, although some have called me an anarchist. Maybe I'm a democratical - socialist. Whatever . . . If politicians could vote from their hearts and not worry about losing their party alliance, we could have already solved the pressing issues that we're facing now.

A political observation. Don’t you think it is ironic that Democrats, strongly supported by young people, believe we must build on the ancient legacy of the 1930 New Deal and the 1960 Great Society? And the flipside, the Republicans, who had considerable support from older voters think we need a fresh start and new ideas for medical care and entitlement programs?

I guess I thought the younger people would be most radical and not so willing to embrace the old-style big-government model.

That is a good point, Priss. I think traditionally most young people tend to lean left while older people tend to lean right. You know me, and I'm kind of in the middle where most voters are. I would love to take the best thoughts from right and left. Fiscal responsibility (like Buckley) merged with reasonable social programs.

Doesn't matter your political leanings but what Rand Paul accomplished this week was heroic. He stood up for the smallest minority, the individual. He, with the help of Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, got the White House to admit the president has no right under the constitution to murder (drone attack) a US citizen when on US soil. Doesn't matter the President said he never "intended" to use this power. The constitution says he doesn't have it to begin with. You can talk about hype and hope, but Rand Paul has the rocks!

Something about the gay marriage issue that strikes me odd. I always thought the 60’s radicals were all about being unconventional. You know free thinkers, free love etc. Well to me marriage is about as traditional a cultural idea as one might find.

And so today’s radicals are saying, hey let’s spread the conventional! Odd huh or is it me? Could it be I’m so far “out”, I’m back “in”?

You're right Pris times have changes so much. Anyone my age of older has seen this country change so much. not all have been bad some have been down right horrible

but for better or worse this is the country we have. It could be better but it could be so much worse.

We live in a land and time of gay marriages and are free to agree or disagree with it. But the thing is that at one time there were as many gay member here as there were straight, it was wonderful. Not a place to pick someone up it still isn't but a wonderful place to share what was on your mind, in your hearts or just plain ticked off.

Aside from the gay marriage debate, I've had gay friends (girls and guys) that were just friends. My lesbian friends never made advances toward me because they knew that I was straight . . . and a friend. People are people, and the nice ones are special, no matter what their sexual orientation.

Hey! I have a prediction about Obamacare.

For those on the political left whose view point is something like; "its the law so stop arguing about it".

Wrong! We will never, ever be done talking about healthcare now. Healthcare will now be politicized with countless special interest groups touting all manner of statistics.

My prediction; no one will ever again no the truth regarding healthcare's actual performance.
