{{{{Lou}}}} {{{{Lou's Dad}}}} I am so sorry to hear about your dad, Lou. I hope he's not in too much pain. :-(

I am so ready for this weekend...

There is lots going on in town this weekend, including Irish Fest :-) and Zoo a la Carte, where local restaurants set up kiosks at the zoo and you can try out their dishes. I think I did this once, and was underwhelmed. Like I told my mom, I pretty much know what I like, and if I want to eat it, I'll just go to that restaurant. ;-)

I remembered going to the thing a couple years ago and getting Indian Fry Bread because I liked the looks of the Native American guys hanging out by the tent, smoking cigarettes. LOL

So...I think I'm seeing a whole different aesthetic ;-)

Irish Fest is fun. I had a really good meal there once, with these sausages that had potatoes in them (hard to imagine...an Irish sausage with potatoes...I know)

BUT...it's supposed to rain tomorrow, so we may just check out the new stores at the mall. They opened 17 new stores, most of which are for kids and teens, and we have to do the back to school thing, so...

How about everyone else? Plans?

I love bangers!

Weekend Plans:

1. Pi$$ off Dad by putting him into a nursing home.

2. Entertain my son-in-law on Sunday while Els and Thomas go to a birthday party.

3. Take Thomas to the nursing home to cheer up the inmate.

4. Have sole for Sunday dinner out.

5. Pretend that Monday is not going to happen.

:-)

on vacation - physical AND mental!

I'm ba-ack! Like Biker, I just wasn't feeling "posty." Then I went on vacation: 4 lovely days near the California/Oregon border with my parents and children while the house was tented for termites. Then cleanup.

Friday I spent most of the day getting new car insurance. The old company has jerked us around enough, and I wanted a local agent. She is *wonderful*! Found us a company that will give us a 15% discount for my engineering degree, AND insure Tamara for free during the 6 months she has a learner's permit. Costs less to insure 4 cars with them than it did to insure 3 with the old one and less hassle.

Also had a new car to insure.. bought my high-school dream car! A Mazda RX-7, 1985 but in really good shape. I am IN LOVE!!! Letting Nich keep his (also 1985) truck, selling the Buick, and we have the brand new CR-V so we think that will be enough "reliability" to get us all where we need to be.

The school-year startup is crazy here too. Especially because the elementary-level charter school is none too organized. We hear about meetings a 2 days in advance if we're lucky. They never start on time (don't these people have a life they want to get back to???) and they wouldn't finish on time even if they started on time. The highlight of the meet-the-new-teacher meeting was somebody's toddling baby brother hanging onto me for dear life. The rest of it just drove me nuts.

Hiya ((((Kathe))))! Congrats on the zippy new car, but--omg--Tamara is driving already. Sigh. Where do the years go?

((((Les)))) Hey there, friend.

(((ScribeWOW)))))

How ever did I miss you?

I won't do anything mean to you; I promise. *angelic grin*

School starts for me on Monday, so I'm catching up on the spamming to hold me through the week. I'll be down to weekends after this week.

There's a bag of hugs under the table. Washable markers are on the counter and a cold drink awaits your thirst in the fridge.

Sorry I haven't been around much...I've been a little under the weather since the weekend. But I'm trying to rally and think positive! LOL

Thanks!

We did a school supply run today after meeting the little guy's teacher. She seems cool, and I really like the room (as does Drew...which is more important).

Drew said, after walking around the classroom, "I wish tomorrow was Monday!"

Awwww...

:-D
