I have already told ((((Les)))), so I am here to tell all my folder peeps . . .
Thomas' mommy is pregnant! Yes, it's true--little line, nausea, everything. What tickles me about this (aside from the glorious fact that I will be GrandmaX2) is that Elsie has always, always had trouble with her cycles and secretly feared that she would never have children. With Thomas, however, she was pregnant on the first try. This time around, as she and Rafael prepared to try again, she saw a new ob/gyn, who said, "Don't get cocky. At your age, the eggs get hard." ROFL! She is all of 33! And on the first try, once again: BingoBaby. She and Rafael are <b>good.</b> ((((Friends))))

{{{{{Les}}}}} How are things up in Harley-town? I am as excited as a kid that the NFL season opener with (my) Chiefs vs. the Raiders is starting in 10 inutes. Yay! Go Chiefs!<p>
I hope that you, Drew, and Rick are doing well. How is this school year looking so far? Is Drew in second grade now, or third? I've lost track. <p> I'm still so hoping that you guys make it out to "our" Disneyland and CA Adventure one of these days. I had such a pleasant night out with friends last night that I'm craving more of the same.<p> {{{{{Lou}}}}} Congrats again on the grandbaby-to-be. Since Thomas is such a joy, I look forward to your having that joy doubled!<p> I hope Vickie reports back to us on the good flicks - she has had some fabulous recommendations the last couple of years. {{{{{Vicki e <g>}}}}} If you're checking in, I sure hope you're having a great time!<p> {{{{{Folder Friends}}}}} Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

{{{{{Vickie}}}}} Checking in is a good idea. Not only were NYC and DC hit, but who knows who might have been on the four planes that were bound for California when they crashed? I called my sister in St. Louis to make sure she wasn't in NYC. She said the first team from her work that was supposed to work in NYC on a project was supposed to have left late this morning. Needless to say, they didn't go. She's to be in the second team. The whole project is on hold indefinitely. It was SO good to hear her voice!<p>
I, too, am concerned about Punky, as she's the only one of our roomies and posters I know of who is in New York City.<p> I went in WS earlier, and the chat rooms are also a good place to check up on roomies/chatters.<p> {{{{{Les}}}}} {{{{{Lou}}}}} {{{{{Roomies}}}}}<p> {{{{{America}}}}}

They are saying that no matter where in America you live, if you're healthy, please give blood. They're arranging for military transport of blood to NYC and DC. They say they'll need blood for a few weeks, so if you can't give blood today, please do it soon if you're able.

Had to stop by and see your names and relieve one worry. Even in the face of this tragedy where there can be no understanding, there is joy in the new life beginning for Lou and Family. I know that special joy of grandchildren Lou. For me, it has been an experience I could never have imagined , so , not to ignore all the "folder friends", this is one the grannies can share! I have a book I'll send you to give to Thomas. He'll know that being the oldest grandchild is an incredibly special role. |

I'm okay. I can't even really think anymore today- it's been an unbelievably trying day.
Thankfully, Rick and my sister are okay as well. We spent most of today trying to get evacuated from the city- we ended up walking to the ferry- they had the Circle Line boats lined up at the docks to evacuate people, then we walked a couple more miles to get home after we got across the river. The worst thing today was probably watching the towers fall from the window at the office. After that everything got really surreal. It was like watching a horror movie, except that everything was really happening. I still haven't quite gotten my head around the concept that the World Trade Center is completely gone. All you could see was the cloud of smoke surrounding the place where it was, and my brain keeps trying to fill in the missing hole in the skyline. I used to live only three blocks away from it, and when I couldn't sleep at night I would count the lights in the windows. I usually got up to a couple hundred before I passed out cold. It's hard to believe that I'll never see it again. The majority of my friends are accounted for at this point, so far there's only two or three people I can think of right now who worked in the building and probably didn't escape. I don't think I'm ready to think about it yet, they're still supposedly pulling bodies from the rubble so they may have a chance yet, but I think it will be days before everyone is accounted for. I'm okay, it may be a day or two before I can go back to work. Thankfully Rick and I both decided this morning not to take the train in because we were both too damn lazy to walk all the way to the train station and we were running late. Our decision to hit the snooze bar a couple of times this morning may well have saved our lives, and I'm feeling pretty blessed right now. Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts, all...it's much appreciated. {{{{{Les, Lou, Biker and the folder folk}}}} |
