(((Punky))) I'm so glad to see you here. I thought of you today. We were in Providence this morning and confiscated our RI rental car to try and get back home. My friend Marianne called to tell me her nephew Brian Williams, who works on the 102nd floor of the World Trade Center, has still not been heard from. He's a close friend of my son Tod. I just want to get home. We stopped in PA to sleep and will head out again tomorrow.
Tom was to fly to Saudi Arabia in just 9 days. He was supposed to be there now, but postponed because his visa was delayed. (((Liam))) and (((friends))) |

{{{{{{{All my dear friends}}}}}}}}
{{{{{{{Punky}}}}}}}}}} Thank you for thinking to post here. It is so good to see you are okay, but horrifying to think it likely that you know someone who has perished. I can't even begin to find words. This is surreal. This morning, we were watching The Today Show and, sadly, saw the second plane crash as we all stood staring at each other, wondering what the hell was happening. Drew said it didn't look like something that should happen in a real city, but in a simulation. This evening, he played the Sims and built an office building. :-( I love you guys {{{{{{{{Cod}}}}}}}}} {{{{{{{{{{Lou}}}}}}}}}}} {{{{{{{{{biker}}}}}}}}}}} dear {{{{{{{{{Vickie}}}}}}}}}}} {{{{{{{Merms}}}}}}}}}} {{{{{{{{Friends}}}}}}}}}} Forgive me if I left out a name.

Oh (((((Punky))))) --thank you for coming here to tell us you are okay.
(((((Cod))))) Marianne is in my thoughts, all her losses. That poor woman. Drive carefully. (((((Merms))))) Thank you. (((((vickie))))) And you, too, sweetheart--be safe. (((((Biker))))) Always the giver. (((((Les))))) I, too, was watching this morning. The detail that is gripping me now is the role of cell phones in this devastation. People calling out. Like us here--electronically. (((((Friends)))))

{{{{Lou}}}} Very strange, isn't it.
When we came home this morning, we went and got Drew and went to the food store. It's where I feel safe and comfortable. While there, I overheard some people at the service desk frantically talking about a co-worker. When we checked out, the clerk told us the story. A fellow worker was to be on the first plane. She was to return from Ireland this morning and catch a flight in Boston. She had called to say she would miss a day of work because she had to stay in Ireland another night because their bus broke down and she missed her flight out. Six degrees of separation...

As with all my roomies, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Now is the time to unite and be what we are: Women Online Worldwide: we unite in our grief and come together strong because we are strong. Each one of you are cared about, loved, and thought of right now. Love, Scribble

((((((((((((Les, Lou, Punky, Cod, Folder Friends))))))))Thank God you are safe Punky. Roo and I sat and talked about visiting your apt. just a few blocks from the WTC, sitting on your "stoop" with Go, grinning like idiots because we were finally all together. Not being able to get back to our hotel because of Begin being in the hotel across from us. This certainly cuts out all the crap in our lives, brings home what is the most important to all of us, friends and family and that bit of luck that has allowed us to be safe.

so true..... (((friends))). I'm home finally. It was a 2 day drive for us. Along the way we saw flashing signs that said "Road Closings" then "Major Incident" and finally "New York City". It seemed like an understatement. We drove along the PA turnpike this morning and came upon a huge cloud of red/gray fog. Then it dawned on us what it was. The PA plane had crashed in a field nearby, and the smoke was still hovering in one vast cloud. We stopped in the nearest town and bought a newspaper.
There has been no word from Marianne's nephew Brian. Last year at this time, she and her mother visited Brian in his office at Cantor-Fitzgerald. They had floors 101 to 108. Brian proudly showed Marianne his desk near the window that overlooked the Statue of Liberty. It's so incredibly sad. They just wait for the phone to ring, but it just doesn't look like that could possibly happen now. His dad said Brian was at his desk every morning at 7am to get an early start. I just think about how many families and friends are going through this pain right now. |

PHEW. thanks for posting {{{{{{{{{punky}}}}}}}}}}. i'm very relieved to hear you're okay.
i'm also relieved to see a post from {{{{{{{{{{{{moon}}}}}}}}}}}}. i was wondering where you were and was starting to get worried. right now, i'm hoping for a few things. first of all, i hope for calm. there are a lot of people out there who are thirsty for vengeance and i'm praying that any trigger-happy (or otherwise) people in positions of power take their time before acting. i also hope the news media STOP REPLAYING THAT FOOTAGE of the planes crashing into the WTC towers over and over and over again. we're actually watching people die every time they show it. what does that do to our psyches? our subconscious? and, as per above, what does it do to the people eager to exact revenge? it fuels their anger with every repeated showing of those clips. and finally, as horribly clich? as it sounds, i hope that some kind of global good can eventually come of this awful tragedy -- that things change for the better. maybe this will remind people of what's truly important, and maybe people's priorities will be sorted into a better order. it's not money and power and fame that are important, it's health and happiness and being loved. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{les, lou, moon, biker, merms, punky and everybody else i'm grateful to know in here}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} |

hey all, here's a link i copied from another board. it's a<a href="http://www.ny.com/wtclist.html"> list</a>, updated every 15 minutes, of WTC survivors who have "checked in." please pass it on to anyone you think might need it because they need to check on someone they know who's unaccounted for. |

Hi {{{{{{{Scribe}}}}}}}} and everyone else I haven't "seen" in what seems to be a million years,
I feel badly thst it takes a tragedy of such immense proportions to bring me back to these boards. But I thought of you all and needed to say hello. I was really relieved to see Punky's post. Thank God. Anyway, I hope this will be just the first of many posts so I can reconnect with you all, some of the most wonderful women I've ever had the privilege of associating with. {{{{{{{{{{amethyst}}}}}}}}}} How wonderful to see you. I visited your old website the other day. One of those moments when you just want to make sure those old connections still exist. I'm so glad you felt the same.
{{{{{{{{{{Vickie}}}}}}}}}}}} Thanks for checking in here. It's good to see the names of friends in days like these. {{{{{{{{{{Everyone}}}}}}}}}}}
