Ya know what? There is never any limit or quota imposed on the number of times you can ask friends for hugs. Ask and you shall receive.

Cod, are you implying I'm full of...
Thppppppppppppppppppppt! Bite it, sister! IRISH, I used to work for a non-profit organization that assists the terminally ill and the chronically depressed. Many of the suggestions are taken from their work -- to restore and maintain hope in those whose situations are otherwise very sad. For countless of them, these ideas really worked. Much has been written about the power of hope and laughter in clinical settings. So there ya go... Tried and proven.

I know the "Power" of positive thinking. It can cure so many things. Getting there is sometimes difficult. Laughter is great, a smile uses more muscles than a frown. So smiling and laughing is great. When I get hit with depression walking works for me.Even more than reading at times. If it not pouring out I absolutely love walking in the rain. Helps to clear the brain. Acting like a kid at times is fun too. Not to long ago when my honey and I were walking it was raining.. the puddles were there. Hey the puddles were calling my name I jumped in 2 of them. It was fun and sometimes ( not all the time ) you have to be silly. It helps bring your life into focus more. Knowing that no matter what is going on you are ok and things will fall into place in spite of life. Make a "positive journal" even if it's one thing a day, week,to start with. Then go from there. Something positve about yourself. Try and do that try and get your kids to do that. Pick a day that you could all share a positve feeling about each other. It's hard to start. It does work. It works at making you feel better about you, about others. You get to accept yourself that is something a lot of people can't do. I wish you all positive thoughts.

((((( Everyone )))))) Hey now life is so perplexing. It loves to throw you a curve ball. I am in one now with the daughter hoping to see the end of this curve. In the meantime, I do my best to be positive yet some days especially around the holidays its' pretty hard. What with past memories creeping up and smacking you upside the head. Usually when the household is in a crisis some kind. Yet I keep on thinking not today but maybe tomorrow. /e sings the sun will come out tomorrow bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow there'll be sun
Have a great day!

((((((((( Wolf_Angel))))))))) For some reason the holidays are a mixed blessing. We are lucky to be celebrating them, yet we miss some things that have changed in our lives.
So hang in there. As I watched the dedication of the new library dedicated to Bill Clinton I was mesmerized. When he got up to speak the rain was tumbling down in buckets. He made note of it by remembering his mother's words.. someone has need of this rain (a farmer, gardener) think of it as "liquid sunshine"! He gave a great talk and spoke eloquently. A true diplomat. For some reason the "liquid rain" touched me. Maybe we could all take a note of that and think of things that get crazy in our lives as sunshine looking for more light. We do have sunshowers some days. Other days have the sun trying it's best to peek though the clouds. Whatever the day brings aren't we lucky to see it. So if you're feeling sad remember to look up and see that sunshine peeking though at you. Wishing you all moments of sunshine even if it's the liquid type. Go for a walk in the liquid sunshine it's a mind clearing experience.

The "holidays" are such a different thing for me, first of all, I am not a christian in a land where most are, to some degree. Second this is my first holiday alone after ending a 7 year relationship. i don't expect to be too lonely, for i have many friends and my sons... both of which will be home for the winter holiday.
However, I have previously spent many holidays alone and what I have learned is that, just as happiness can only come from inside, so can the saddness. from the holidays. Acknowledge feelings, for there are no wrong feelings, only the actions we attach to them. Then take control of your actions and turn the feelings inside out. |

As an ex-mental health counselor, I used to try to teach people that feeling are basically neutral, it is the meaning that we attach to them that is important. I can feel sad, but it doesn't have to be such a negative thing. I can say that I am sad today, but I still need to keep on keeping on. And the sad part gets shoved into the background.
You are a wise woman.

JUst curious
I was wondering what is your christmas wish? Not just peace joy and health, something you have always wanted yet haven't received. If you could give something to someone whet would it be? Just curious.....
Irish_Eyes yes rain is always needed. At pow wow's aka gatherings of native americans we hope not for the liquid sun. Since leather regalia is not the easiest to make and liquid sunshine does a number on it. LOL Hence we really dont want it for that time. Now I thought of that positive journal. That sounds like a plan for the daughter but she is on a kick about writing. Or rather not writing at all. Yet I'll pitch this to her and her counselor. By the way, she made the Basketball team. Hope all of you have a great day!

Well, I got my always wanted Christmas present last week. A 2004 Honda VTX 1300C motorcycle. And I gave Greg what he has always wanted: a 2005 Honda VTX 1800FF. I have always wanted a motorcycle. Last year, when we made a huge profit on the sale of our old house, I bought him the 1300 (paid in full!!!) This year I finally admitted that I had always wanted to learn to drive and own a motorcycle. We went back to our Honda guy and bought Greg his dream bike. Kind of a funny way to give Christmas presents, but we are both happy as little clams!
I really have nothing else that I want now, so will have to think up a new improbable gift! I would love to give Pirate the gift of time to be young and simply enjoy life. I'm hoping I will be able to do that, but it is really going to have to be his choice. Great question! And I know exactly what you mean about leather. I've been learning how to make some things with leather and rain would not be good. The motorcycle leathers are the type that we can put a water proofing goop on, but that would ruin tradition native wear.
