Thanks! I think I would agree with you. Those poor babies from shelter... I will definitely choose shelter over a pet store. I am not sure about the breed, etc. I guess I'll have to look for someone like FELIX
Savannah, I'd like to get a kitten, I've had one back when I was a child myself. They are so playful and fun. Thanks for your help, though.
And thank you, crazymomma!

We have always gone to the animal shelter for our pets. I have a cat that is truly brain damaged. She snuck out of the house once and played tag with a truck. The right side of her head was dented in (closed skull fracture, broken eye orbit bones, broken upper jaw and lost her sight in her right eye). She has never tried to escape again. She has a few balance problems every once in a while (she'll be sitting, looking out the window and just tip over), and chases more "ghosts" than she used to. She is basically weird, I guess that's the polite way to put it!

Don't feel sad about her, she is one happy cat. Purrs constantly, even when she sleeps!

None whatsoever. She just a dopey-little-happy cat who acts like a kitten even though she is 14 years old!!

I have a cat that bathes in the dog's water dish. He's watched me in our tub and mimics me. He also tries to eat his food like we do with his paws. It's cute really, if a little weird.

As far as breeds go, I would recommend staying away from Siamese cats. They're pretty moody and don't tolerate kids well. At least from my experience and from others I know that have had them.

My brother once had a mixed Siamese who wasn't prejudiced. She simply hated everyone!

We just had our long haired cat shaved for the spring. He's so funny looking I giggle whenever I see him. His hair used to get so matted that we'd have to have it shaved. More recently, he's taking better care of himself, but that makes him bring up hair balls 2 or 3 times a day. So off he went to the groomers again, lol. I wish I knew a different way to help him out, but the only thing I know to do is get rid of the problem, which is his hair.

Hello Cinderellen

Does it take a long time for the cat to grow back its hair?

I have two cats and I would like to get them shaved before the nice weather comes.

Petey's fur takes about 3-4 months to totally grow back. They say that shaving them makes it harder for them to regulate their body temperature, but my cats are totally indoor cats, so that's not so much of a factor. Just a thought before you do it though. Petey's a much happier cat when he gets his hair shaved off. Also, they're really hysterical looking with a lion cut.

Being a somewhat lazy cat keeper, I've always had short haired cats. But we did shave the dog once (not Emma, she was short haired), he looked ridiculous.

Cinderellen - Can you post a picture (or email it to me) of your lion-cut cat? I'll bet it is great!

A group of horses is a herd, a group of dogs is a pack, a group of fish is a school. Did you know that a group (3 or more) of cats is called a clutter? I had three cats for a long time and it is probably one of the most descriptive terms that I know! LOL! Three cats in a small kitchen is a clutter!

I'll see what I can do brede. This time I didn't get the lion cut, but I might have an older picture. I don't exactly know how to post a picture, so I'll probably have to email it to you, lol.
