I admire Robert Altman films, so today I saw "In the Bedroom." It is billed as a thriller--so my daughter said--but I wouldn't call it that. It's a tragedy, wonderfully full of details that connect. The theme, I think, is that revenge will get you nothing. Zip.

I thought it was a wonderful year for movies. Many of them were, however, very heavy. So, in the interest of a little lighter fare I went to see Kissing Jessica Stein. I really enjoyed it! The writers, who also star in the film, are witty and bright. They and the movie have a nice spark, maybe even a sparkle. ;-)
It was a fun time at the movies and I left with a little bounce in my step. Very refreshing. :-)

Last night we went to see Panic Room. I have to say a few things about it. First it used some interesting computer enhanced images. Second it was Jody Foster at her best thriller self. Third although it was totally predictable, we were on the edge of our seats the whole time. Great cast. I would not want Dwight Yoakum (sp) in my house in the middle of the night!!

Frailty - Pretty good with a neat twist to the ending A+ acting by Matthew McConaghey and it was neat to see Powers Booth looking all middle aged where the heck has he been anyway?

Changing Lanes - Save your change, a humdrum boring slow paced movie with a very disappointing ending. I hate unresolved conflicts, only Alfred Hitchcock ever did them well. This movie is not helping Ben Affleck's career or Samuel Jackson for that matter. I will give it an A for film editing though and camera techniques were interesting. I am looking forward to seeing Affleck play Harrison Ford's old character Jack Ryan, I wonder if he can pull it off, I think he's too young.

I rented Jeepers Kreepers with a few friends thinking that it would be a good scarey movie. I reccomend that you save your money and wait for it on HBO or something. Unless you like some guy running around in a gargoyle costume, and a girl that can't drive a stick worth a darn.

Boy was I glad to see this come back to the theatre. This was my favorite movie of all time as a kid. I did, however realize, that my perception of greatness at the age of eight was very different than my perception now. I did like the new two minute spot. It was very fun to be there for the viewing. Sunshine!

I saw My Big Fat Greek Wedding last weekend. It meant well but it missed. Produced by Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks, I'd say it's a definite rental but you can probably do better in the theater.

I've seen two films recently. The first is "Last Marriage," an Israeli film that I liked very much. It is funny, sad, and very sexy. The second is "About A Boy," with Hugh Grant. I am not a HG fan, but he is very good here, and the boy who plays the boy who is not the "boy" in the title <g> is fabulous. I recommend them both. Happy popcorning!

Divine Order Of The YaYa Sisterhood - Not all it was said it would be BUT....Ellen Burstyn was beautiful!! I want the number of her plastic surgeon, but her teeth looked awful, maybe they were supposed to represent a lifetime of cigarettes and booze? I went with a bunch of women friends and it made for a great "girls night out."

Insomnia - Al Pacino being weird as usual....Robin Williams in an interesting part but this movie was WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too long and boring. My sister said it reminded her of her trip to Finland where the sun didn't set the whole time she was there and she never slept either. But let me tell you....watching Al Pacina stay awake will put you to sleep...zzzzzzzz.
