This Story has been told to me time and time again. Rather it be at old slumber parties or from grandparents. If ever ghost stories are being told, this one is always one of them. It may got be the exact wording, but its all the same!

The story begins with two high school kids out on a date. The two kids had gone to see a movie that had ended early, so instead of going on home they decided to go parking. The drove way out into the country. As they drove they listened to the radio. About half way to their destination the radio broadcasted that a convict had escaped from the local prison, and that he had been in prison for the murders of several people. The radio then went on to warn people that on the convicts left arm, instead of a hand he wore a hook, and that if anyone saw him to please contact the local authorities. Well, hearing this, the girl became very frightened and wanted to go home. However the boy just laughed at her and said he would take care of her and that no convict would come this far out into the country. The girl wasn't completely put to ease, but she agreed to go on. When they got there, they talked and soon began making out. Not long after, the girl heard a scrapping sound on her car door, she told her boyfriend, but he told her she was just hearing things and to stop being paranoid.

They started making out again, but the girl kept on hearing the noise. Soon she became so afraid the boy agreed to leave. He was very annoyed and took off spinning his tires. When they got to her house, the boy got out to let his girlfriend out of the car, and as he went to open the door, hanging off the hinge was a HOOK!!!

The Beautiful Young Vanishing Hitchhiking Woman
A young man had just left a party given by some of his friends. As he started down the road it was about 12:30 at night and pouring down rain. He had only driven about 2 miles when he saw this faint figure walking on the side of the road. As he got closer he realized it was a young lady, for she was wearing a long white dress. He pulled over and asked her if she would like a ride. He figured she had came from the party. She said she would and she hoped in the front seat. He noticed she was shivering from the rain so he took off his jacket and offered it to her, she gladly accepted and put the jacket on. They talked about where they were from and other basic chit chat. The young man was overwhelmed by how beautiful the girl was. When he pulled up to her house he was going to ask her out, but when he went around to the passenger side the door was open and she was gone. He seemed a little confused, but figured she had just gotten nervous and ran into her house. The following day the young man realized the girl had left in such a rush, that she forgot to leave his jacket. He remembered the directions to her house and went there since he did not have a phone number to call.

He knocked on the door and a woman answered. The young man told her he was there to pick up his jacket from who he assumed was her daughter. The woman looked at him strangely and then began to smile. She then told him that her daughter had died in a car accident ten years ago. The young man was horrified and did not belive her. The woman asked him to follow her. While they walked the woman told him this was not the first time this had happened and for him not to be upset. The woman stopped at what looked to be a family cemetery and pointed to the far right. The young walked over and there laying on a headstone was his jacket.

DIDN'T TURN ON THE LIGHTS
Two college girls named Miranda and Louise shared a dorm room together. One night Louise told Miranda she had a mild case of the flu and felt pretty lousy, and wanted to be left alone. Miranda was sympathetic and took her books to the library to study so Louise could have the room to herself.

Later that evening, Miranda met a very nice guy who wanted to take her to a bar. But she remembered she had left her ID back in the dorm and would need to get it to prove she was old enough to get into the bar. Remembering that Louise was sick and not wanting to disturb her, Miranda didn't turn on the lights when she went into the room. She just walked in, fumbled on the dresser for her card, and left.

Miranda had a good time at the bar with the boy. At midnight he drove her back to the dorm. Police cars were everywhere. Frightened college students huddled in shivering groups. Yellow crime-scene tape was blocking the door to the one of the dorm rooms. Miranda panicked, screamed that the room was hers, and pushed past detectives to get inside.

Louise's mutilated, dismembered body was sitting on her bed in a lake of blood. She had been stabbed repeatedly and hacked to pieces. Sickened by the sight, Miranda ran into the bathroom and vomited. After she emptied her stomach, she went to the sink to wash her face. Scrawled on the mirror in blood was a message from the killer written just for her: "AREN'T YOU GLAD YOU DIDN'T TURN ON THE LIGHTS?"

SHADOWS IN MIRRORS
There was once a woman who lived by herself in a quaint house in the country. Her husband had passed away about 5 years back and she was planning on moving soon.
One day, while packing up some of her husbands things, she noticed that the temperature dropped really low. She walked down the hall to check the thermostat, but when she got there it showed no difference in temp. She thought about it but figured that it must be broken. She decided that she would call someone the next day to fix it. When she passed the mirror on the wall on her way back she thought she saw a movement of shadows in the reflection. Then the temperature soon returned returned to normal and when she looked back at the mirror nothing was there. She shrugged and went back to packing.

A couple of days later the temperature dropped again. Again the woman went to the thermostat and again it showed no change. She remembered that she had forgotten to call some one to repair it. She promised herself that she would call after her show on T.V. that she had been watching. When she passed the mirror she again saw the movement of shadows. She stopped. In the reflection she saw a shadow, nothing but a shadow. Slightly translucent but visible. The shape was indescribable. It changed shape, like water, flowing, about the size of a tall person. It stepped out from the wall behind the woman, but when she turned around to face it there was nothing there. Now she was scared. She began to tremble. Slowly she turned back to the mirror. The figure was still there, and closer. She screamed out "HEEEEELLPPP!!!" but no one came.

Closer and closer IT came.....

* * *

A few weeks later a friend of the woman's stopped by to say Hi. she knocked and knocked but there was no answer. The next day a cop came out to investigate, but he found nothing but a few empty boxes and the TV on. It was put down as unsolved. The house was soon cleaned out and put out on the market.

* * *

For years the house was empty, what with all of the stories going around about it. But one day a small family consisting of a mother, father and daughter- moved in from the city.

All was well for a while until one day when the temperature dropped. The daughter went to her parents and asked them what happened. They said they didn't know and they went to the thermostat to see. It showed no change in temperature. They decided to call someone. The daughter went back to playing with her dolls in her room. Had she looked up into her mirror she would have seen a shadow peeking from behind the reflection of her bed. But just then her parents come in to tell her that someone was coming the next day to fix the thermostat and that she'll have to deal with it for a while, but when they finished saying this the temperature went back to normal. The parents said never mind.

A few weeks later the temperature dropped again. The girl was brushing her hair at the time, in front of her mirror. She saw the shadow behind the reflection as it started to creep towards her. She screamed. Her parents came in asking what she saw. She told them but they didn't believe her. She tried to make them believe her but it was of no use. They took her to a psychologist for a few months to get her help.

When she came home she believed it was all a figment of her imagination. She probably would have kept believing that except that about a year later the temperature dropped once again. The girl was by herself because her parents had gone to the store and left her alone, since she was 11 years old. She was experimenting with make-up at the time, in front of her mothers mirror. She stared in terror as the THING crept out from behind the bed. She trembled but didn't call out, she knew no one would come. And now, as done before, the THING came closer and closer, closer and closer.....

* * *

When the girls parents came home they had no one to come home to.

(((Roomies)))Thought I would add a ghost story to Misty's folder. The place I work at is haunted. I use to work the graveyard shift and that is when we would experience it. I didn't believe for the longest time until I saw it myself. Anyway, we have seen a ghost of a man in a flannel shirt that has keys. We have heard them make nosie. Also things have fallen off of the shelves with no one around and items on pegs on endbases have swung. It's not trying to hurt us though,it just has fun scaring us. An ex employee also saw a little girl ghost in a rainjacket. It was kind of funny because he didn't believe us until then. There was a fire a long time ago and my husband and I believe someone must of passed on.I want to find out for sure though. Now that we work early morning shifts we don't see it as much anymore. Our auditors have to work graveyard sometimes and they always stick together because of this. This is just a few things ther have been other things it has done to. jules

THE CALL
Lisa's parents were gone at a party for the evening. And all poor Lisa had to do was stay home and watch her two little siblings, making sure they didn't get in any trouble. Wishing she were out hanging with her friends on a clear and beautiful Friday night instead of at home baby sitting the two brats, Lisa flicked on the TV in the den.

The kids were in the next room, the living room, playing with their toys. After flipping the channels for what seemed like hours, she finally came across a made-for-TV movie that looked pretty good. A romance, her favorite. As Lisa started to settle into the movie, the kids came in, demanding that they were hungry and wanted something to eat. So while the kids took over the television, Lisa went into the kitchen to make spaghetti for the three of them.

Just as everything was about to be finished, the phone rang. Lisa went to answer but her stupid little brother got to it first and said, "Hello? Smith residence." No answer. "Gimme the phone!" Lisa said, snatching from her brother. "Hello, who is this?" Lisa demanded. "I'm near" said the voice on the other side. "Near where?" Lisa replied, but there was nothing but a dial tone. A little shaken, Lisa checked on the kids and finished preparations for dinner. She set up the table and poured out spaghetti for everyone. After everyone chowed down, the kids decided to take a nap on the couch while Lisa finished up the movie. As she turned on the TV, she saw it was almost over. "Great.." she mumbled right before the phone rang again.

Forgetting the previous episode, she ran to the phone before it woke the kids and shattered her peace. Snatching up the receiver, she blurted, "Hello?". "I'm closer" reported the other end. "Huh, excuse me?" said Lisa. But once again, nothing but a dial tone. Lisa was bugging out now. "I'm near, I'm closer? What the hell?" she wondered aloud. Deciding to get to the bottom of it she called the operator. "Yes, how may I help you?" the operator said.
"I'm getting a couple of strange phone calls here and I was wondering if you can tell me where they came from?" asked Lisa.
"No," replied the operator, "but I could put a tap on your line and the next time he calls I can tell you where it came from." Lisa thanked the operator and hung up.

She walked over to the kids and woke them up. She didn't want to scare them but she had to have them awake in case of emergency. Lisa deliberated on calling her parents, but she decided that she old enough to handle this herself. "I'm 17, and I'm tough" Lisa knew, "I can handle this". Just a she was summoning her courage, the phone rang. Lisa told the kids to stay quiet and on the couch. She answered the phone with a faint, "Hello?" The weirdo said, "I'm here now, and my, it is so sharp..." He giggled in the background.. "Huh? Wh.. What's so sharp?" Lisa blurted. "Where are you?" But the man hung up. Instantly the phone rang again. It was operator. "My God, those calls are coming from inside your house! Get out now, and I will call the police!!"

Lisa slammed down the phone, grabbed her keys and the kids and flew out the front door. They got in the car and locked all the doors..All of a sudden, police cars came roaring up the driveway. One car checked on the kids while four policeman burst into the house. They searched everywhere until the finally came to attic. Upon going in they found a young man in the corner with a cellular phone and a huge butcher knife, getting ready to head downstairs.

The Ghosts of Egdefield

McMenamins Egdgefield near where I live use to be a poor farm for the destitute and was closed for good in 1982.It was bought in 1990 and made into an entainment complex.Anyway,in the greenhouse mummified cats were found in the greenhouse storage benches and cat spirits have been felt there. People have woke up to find chairs in different places and have seen a man walking a dog down the hall and a woman shuffling along. Alot of activity has been in the winery wing which use to be the infirmary. A couple woke and saw her daughter talking to someone.People have woke to ghosts sitting on the end of the bed and have seen indentations where they were sitting. They have played tricks like unplugging lights,suspending wine glasses in the air,turning on various machines.There is also a little girl ghost named Althea who pulls off blankets and tugs on ankles and toes. They also hear her playing the halls. People who check in just to see the ghosts won't see them either. They are the ones who don't usually see them.There are a few ghosts that are regulars also. This a story from the local paper. julies

Hotel Del Coronado

They did a story on this hotel on the Travel Channel but after doing some research well there is more to the story than the Travel Channel told. They said they had no clue who this woman was, only what her name really was.. which they lied...they said it was room 3327.. again they lied. Perhaps the owners of the hotel wished to downplay the occurances and the story but due to the good ole internet I was able to find out more info and the truth about the haunting. This will prolly be a long post so bear with me!

Built more than 100 years ago in the seaside village of Coronado, The Del has maintained a tradition of lavish service in a fairy-tale setting surrounded by mystery and wonder. The grounds sprawl over 26 acres of lush beachfront property, and the hotel itself is an architectural marvel. Some compare it to a confection as elaborate and pristine as a wedding cake. Frank L. Baum, who wrote The Wizard of Oz, based his design of Emerald City on the hotel's turreted architecture. Everywhere you turn is a nook, a cranny, a gazebo or an alcove that makes you feel you're uncovering a secret that no one has ever found before.

Two Midwestern builders dreamt up The Del. Back in the 1880s, before Coronado was developed, Elisha Babcock and H. L. Story could see promise in the barren landscape. They spared no money or effort, importing lumber and laborers from San Francisco to help construct their vision. A mahogany bar was built in Philadelphia and delivered fully assembled to Coronado by ship, traveling all the way around South America. Babcock and Story spent a cool $1 million to realize their dream -- an amount unheard of in those days -- $600,000 for construction and $400,000 for furnishings.

Now for the haunting............

Over the Thanksgiving holiday of 1892 a beautiful young woman checked into the hotel. She was alone and carried no luggage. She checked in under the name of Lottie A. Bernard. Five days after her arrival she was found dead on a sidewalk leading from the hotel to the beach with a single gunshot to her head. It was self-inflicted. Eventaully her story came out.

Lottie was really Kate Morgan. Wife of Tom Morgan, a gambling cardshark who was supposed to meet her at the Del but never showed up. Kate and Tom rode the rails together.. Kate distracting Tom's card players while he cleaned them out.

Hotel workers claimed that Kate appeared sick upon her arrival and rarely left her room. She had told a cpl of the employees that she was waiting for her 'brother' who was a doctor to arrive. (on the rails Kate and Tom used the brother ploy to outwit and swindle male card players out of money) She told the employee's she had stomach cancer but most believe she was pregnant, which would make since because after her death they found quinine in her hotel room which in that day was used to promote miscarriages.

Kate's hotel room was originally 302 but now is numbered 3312(Travel channel said it was 3327)and since her passing many a strange thing has been reported as to of happened.
Hotel workers would get a call at front desk from rooms next to 3312 saying there was loud banging comming from that room... even when no one was checked into it. On one such occasion when they sent an employee up to check it out he opened the door to see and impression of someone lying on the bed which was empty..and when he went to straighten out the bed...the blankets would not move.. as if someone really were lying there. One couple claimed that they were woken in the night hearing there names called..and being asked to get up and look thru the peephole in the door. They checked out of the hotel the next morning.. 4 days early.

Others have claimed to have talked to Kate thru the TV set in the room, have things move around while out of the room, feel a breeze when no windows were open, the lights will flicker, TV will turn off and on by itself. Also, some claim that late at night if they look from the window in 3312 they see a young woman walking the beach who stops, looks right at them and then disappears. The spot they say she disappears at is at right about the location that Kates body was found.

Needless to say that room is always booked on Halloween night and most who deal with hauntings and the supernatural feel it is truely one of the most haunted hotels in America.
