Hi, My name is Danielle, and I am new to these boards. I not too long ago became a MOM team member, as several of you are, and I am so excited about the opportunity! I have been an at home mom for about 2 years now, and my husband is working two jobs to support that. It means he doesn't get to spend much time with our girls though, and so I ventured out searching for something that didn't interfere with family, but could eventually allow him to quit his second job! I nearly gave up, when I stumbled upon MOM team. I am so glad I did! Not only am I helping my family I am helping other families just like mine to become healthier and to reach their goals financially. If any of you have any ideas on how I can help build my business, I would love to hear it...I have virtually no experience online.
P.S. I think those of you who are managing kids and one or more home businesses are tremendous! It takes a lot of creativity to integrate your family into a business venture without letting anything suffer. If you have any tips for me, please, feel free to email or post!

How can you teach internet marketing skills to people when you can't clearly explain your own business online? You have to prove you have the experience to teach before anyone will trust you. I certainly wouldn't recommend the business from what I've seen.

I will say again, YOU NEED TO USE SOME TYPE OF SPELL CHECK. It does make a difference on how people view you and your business. The importance you place on building your foundation tells people how long they can count on you to make them a priority. This is the second reason I wouldn't recommend your business.

I'm beginning to think this is some kind of joke...trying to see how many people will inquire about your business even though the ads are comically flawed and placed where they aren't wanted. LOL It wouldn't shock me one bit now that I think of it!

I am sorry if my sincere attempt to get real info from real people has caused you to be so resentful of me! I can explain my business in clear concise terms, and will to anyone who is interested. Because I know you are NOT, I choose not to advertise here, but to ask for genuine responses from people who know more online than I do...and I get shot down in the least respectful way possible. I was hoping this site would be one where I could find more help, advice and consideration, but evidently I am wrong. It makes me all the more proud of the MOM team..we all help each other succeed, and do it with honesty, respect and compassion. The company we work for wants us to talk to people who are interested in starting a business from home because they want that person to feel that they are talking to someone real, not just some cyber-flake...they want us to tell those who are interested in the opportunity all the info they need to know Prior to beginning from a real person, not just an ad! I didn't understand that position at first, but you have definitely brought it to me loud and clear! I thank you for your input, and hope that you would reconsider your position on mom team, although I am fairly sure you would not ever concede your position.
As for PETA, and animal testing and cruelty, I am not a Peta activist, and do not keep up with the world of PETA...perhaps I should. I think animals are wonderful creatures, put on this earth to serve their purposes...I think there should be every attempt to conserve both them and the environment. Unfortunately, most North American consumers are buying products everyday which contaminate their homes, their water supply and the environment that surronds them (that may or may not have already been tested on animals some of which are proven human carcinogens). This means that everyday we are killing ourselves and the wildlife around us...I am offering a way for moderate conservationists to help alleviate this problem with safer alternatives which don't cost a lot of money. It seems to me that we are doing more to save animals than harm them, but who am I to say?...I am nothing in your eyes, a hero in others! It's all in the perspective I suppose.

I must say I'm confused...who's resentful of what and from whom? I don't see any criticism of drsharry anywhere...did I miss something?

And regarding Melaleuca, if they are conducting unnecessary tests that are cruel to animals, it doesn't really matter how much good you perceive them to do with their products...they'll still be seen as products connected with needless cruelty and destruction.

Unkind to say the least...implying that I was advertising my business, by simply asking for others help derrived from their online experience...saying that my "ad" was comically flawed...that I need spell check...etc. Conversational english which is what a message board should be, has little regard for spelling, punctuation and grammar. Advertising does, however, and my ads are checked for those things...I didn't feel that I needed to be ON guard about who I am or who I ask for advice from...but her post makes me very aware that not everyone is here for helping others...perhaps it was not directed to me, I suppose that I will never know, because it was not specifically stated that "I" was the one it was directed to, but from my perspective, and again, that is all any of us have, it was hurtful and not necessary. Point taken on animal testing, and I will look further into it for myself...

That was a response to angelfacephx. Please read back for a few pages and you will see that she has posted several ads here. They contain terrible mistakes, and are extremely vague. She wanted feedback on her website that turned out to be the same way. I didn't intend for it to come out as nasty as it seems, and I certainly didn't mean it for anyone but angelfacephx.

Please keep coming back. This is actually a very wonderful community.

I didn't read the title very well I guess...I am sorry for getting so defensive. I guess I assumed(and we all know what that does)that you were talking to me because of the placement of your post...I did go back and check out previous posts that I had only skimmed through to find info pertaining to my situation previously and saw her posts, and have realized what your intention was with that post now. I am sorry again, and hope to find some good chatting with you ladies. Again, I am new to both home business and the internet in general, and I do hope that you all will be able to help me find my wings...and catch my dreams...LOL! Good night all, and again, please forgive me for my skimming. I have already learned my lesson #1...no skimming, and #2...no assuming! LOL.

Hi Ladies,

I haven't posted in a while, just wanted to drop in and say a quick "hello how's it going" I see that we have had some very lively conversations going. It seems I started something with my post (way back 3 pages) about the criticism of someone's post. (LOL)

I guess we have all had a lesson in jumping defensive, assuming, and people expressing their opinion, but hey, isn't that what this is all about. We express our opinions - someone may get offended or misenterpret the poster's intent, but then we hash it all out and realize that no one here is trying to intentionally hurt anyone or belittle anyone or offend anyone. Although in this great country of ours with freedom of speech and opinions it sometimes happens. We don't take it personally, get past it, and come back to the board fresh and ready for the next round.

Well on another note - Do any of you homeschool? Is there a board for that? (of course I didn't bother to check LOL) If there is I'll catch up with you on that board. Gotta go back to work (I love saying that when I'm still in my pajamas) and I'll chat with you ladies later.

Misunderstandings are half of the internet lol It's nice to see people willing to work them out though. I'm glad you gave the boards another chance.

Working from home is very hard, and I'm sure we will see fireworks around here from time to time on different issues. Homeschooling can be talked about at Education and Schooling. That's something I would like to hear about from more people. Our son is only 3 but we have been planning on homeschooling him.

Hi Everybody!

Thanks DrHilieWho. I'm definitely going to stay with you ladies even if I don't get here everyday. I belong to a lot of message boards and try to spread out my visits. You will probably catch me sometime on the homeschooling board. My daughter will be 6 in September and I actually started teaching her when she was 2. Now is a good time to start with your little one. They are really receptive and most of it is just incorporating educational things into their play time and making a game of learning. Okay, enough of that on this board. Just thought I would sneak that in

Homeschooling and having a home business are my two top subjects right now. Although I love to chat about anything and it's nice to hear what people have to say about different subjects. It broadens the mind and allows us to keep it open.

I gotta go now. You know I have to make the most of my time in the mornings before my little rascal wakes up. Thank goodness she is not usually up with the birds! (and me) LOL

I work for a "regular" manufacturing company that for the last couple of years has allowed me to telecommute 2 days a week - occasionally 3. I LOVE waking up an hour later, and avoiding the commute, the gas money, and the wear and tear on my truck. I love working in a t-shirt and shorts in my own (rented) little condo. I'm a technical writer, so I bring work home on a Zip disk and do the documents on my home computer, then load the completed documents back onto the Zip disk and take them back to work on my next "office day." <p>
I have to be in the office some, as I need to interact with the engineers and project managers. But working at home is far less distracting, as I live alone, and my only "kid" is a sweet little cat named Ozzy. He doesn't interrupt me too much, and it's great to spend breaks petting him. At lunchtime, I can run errands locally, eat at a favorite local haunt, or cook lunch at home, which saves money. I get plenty done working at home, because it's a priviledge I want to keep. <p>
Not having to jump into LA-suburb traffic but 3 days a week has made me calmer, and my life seems richer as a result. <p>
If you work for a company that is openminded, short on parking spaces (as mine is), or is worried about the western US's energy woes, it might be worth seeing if you can arrange to do your regular job at home, maybe even starting with just one day a week. I would imagine it would depend on the type of work you do, and how openminded you employer is. All I know is that I love it and it works out great for me! :-)

When I lived in Maryland I had a work at home job. I maintained a data base for Aetna Insurance Company. It was great. My son was little. I could work as little or as much as I wanted. I got my files from the Philadelphia office. Everything was done by mail at that time, it was right before the electronic revolution. Had we not moved to Florida I would still be doing it and probably electronically. I put information to disk and sent it once a week to the main office. I also kept it on the computer that they supplied to me at home. I have not tried to find a job like that here in Fl, Aetna has since sold that part of their business to Travelers and closed down the Tampa office where they transferred my husband in 1993. My husband works from home now for another large insurance company. My son says he feels very lucky to have both of his parents here most of the time. I think that the electronic revolution has been wonderful for us. If I could find another data base management job like the one I had I would be delighted.

I thought this would be a good place to get honest advice from experianced work at home moms. Not be knocked for asking advice. Thinks for letting me know what kind of board this is. Yes I needed someone to look at the temp. site to see if there were any misspellings or if I should put up more information. As for posting adds were they are not wanted It was made pretty clear what I was trying to do. If you need me to spell it out for you. I wanted to see what others thought of the test site before I started placing adds. So in turn that means I was still working on the adds.
I don't know of any "work in progress" sites that don't have mispellings. By the way there are no spell checkers offered for posting here and I am dislexic. Any wayI have my real site up and running. http://www.adreamcatcher.net Thanks for your time, Jeri

You were given feedback from your first posts on this board that should have cleared up several of the mistakes in your later ad postings. That certainly gave me the impression that you weren't interested in advice, but in getting traffic to your site.

I am a mother of two young, very demanding children. I also am in the beginning of another pregnancy and feel weak and am sick quite often. I have never used any of these as an excuse for doing a poor job. You start that at the beginning of your business and it will never get off the ground. If you are on a computer, use a word processing program with a spell check. If you are on a WebTV or similar machine, try a site like Spell Check at Free Url.com.

Would a WebTV user be nice enough to give instructions for copy and paste? Thanks everybody!
