THE BLACK CADILLAC
This story was told to me by my older brother and sister. It takes place back in the early to mid-1970's. On the Southside of the court-square in my hometown (Newnan,GA), there used to be a Cadillac dealership, at the time, one of the most prominent in the county. The dealership went out of business a couple of years after the incident I'm about to relate to you took place.

For several weeks in a row, a certain man, always dressed totally in black, would go to the dealership and admire one Cadillac in particular, a brand new, shiny black one with all the extras. The strange thing was, when one of the salesmen saw him and started out to meet the man, he would get in his car and leave the dealership, never allowing the salesman to get close enough to really get a good look at him. Every day he came, always at the same time, and always in the same vehicle which was also a black Cadillac, only an older model. The salesmen were really getting annoyed at the man and his strange behavior, so they hatched a plan. One of them would go out the next day, just before the time the man always showed up, and get into the black Cadillac and wait there for the man's daily visit.

The one salesman, I'll call him John, went out and waited for the man to show up. He never did. Nor did he the next day, nor the next. The salesmen decided the man wouldn't be back so they stopped going out to wait for him.

In the ensuing weeks, several people stopped to admire the black Cadillac, but once they got in it to test drive it, it would never crank. It was checked from one end to the other. Nothing could be found wrong. Even more strange was the fact that the car would always crank fine when there were no interested customers about.

One morning while John was at the dealership alone, he glanced out the office window and to his surprise, there was the man in black. Remembering his experiences with the man in the past, he didn't bother to get up and go out there, for he knew what the man would do if he did. So he continued on with his paperwork and forgot about it. A few minutes later, while his back was turned, he heard the bell on the door ring, signifying someone had entered the office. He turned to greet the customer with a smile on his face, and stopped short, for it was the man in black. The man could only be described as tall, lean, mid-sixties, to early-seventies, and ghostly pale. The man sat down in the chair in front of John's desk, pulled out his wallet, and laid approximately twenty-thousand dollars on the desk. John smiled widely. "So you finally decided you wanted the car, heh?." The man never spoke a word, just shook his head in the affirmative. No smile, no nothing, just a blank look on his face. John pulled out the necessary paperwork, handed it to the man, showed him where to sign, and told him to put down where he wanted the car delivered to. When this was done, the man stood up and, without a handshake or even a grin, turned and walked out of the building, leaving the cash where he'd placed it on the desk. He got in his old car and drove away.

Later on that day, after the car was newly washed and shined up, The other salesman, John's partner, came in. He couldn't believe the man had finally come back and bought the black Cadillac! He was even further stunned upon hearing that the man had paid cash for it. John gave his partner, I'll call him James, the address where the car was to be delivered, and told him the man hadn't even test drove the car. He'd simply come into the office, laid the cash on the desk, signed the paperwork and left.

James, shaking his head in awe, told John he'd be back as soon as he'd delivered the car and left. The car cranked the first time and he was on his way. Looking again at the address on the paperwork, he racked his brain trying to remember where the particular street was at. The address was: Lot #3, Oaklawn Way. That couldn't be right, he thought to himself. The man had made a mistake on the address, for the address he'd given was right smack dab in the middle of the cemetery. He looked on the paperwork for a phone number. There wasn't one. How was he going to get in touch with the man? he wondered. He stopped at a pay phone and looked up the man's name in the phone book provided. It was not there. He got back in the Cadillac and decided to go to the only Oaklawn Way that he knew of. He turned into the cemetery, feeling foolish but somehow compelled to go there. He found Lot #3. As he'd known it would be, it was a cemetery plot. Still feeling foolish, he got out of the Cadillac looking all around the cemetery for the man who'd purchased it, thinking that maybe for some reason the man had wanted to pick it up there. Maybe as a surprise for his wife or something. He saw no sign of anyone. He dropped his head trying to figure out what to do. All he knew to do was to go back to the office and wait for the man to come back or call and give him the right address. As he was turning, he caught the glimpse of a headstone directly in front of him, and part of a name. He did a double take when he read the full name on it. A chill coursed down his spine, for the name was that of the man who'd bought the black Cadillac. He rushed over to the Cadillac and grabbed the paper he'd brought with him, just to double check it against the name on the headstone. The name matched, as did the birth date. The date of death was one week before the Cadillac had been bought. How could that be?, he wondered. It has to be a coincidence. Not knowing what to do, James got in the Cadillac and went back to the office. John of course, asked him what was the problem. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you," answered James. "Try me," said John.

James told him about where the address had been and the name on the headstone. "You're right," said John, "I don't believe you. I guess all we can do is wait for him to call or come up here." The days turned into weeks. No call was ever received. No one ever came to claim the vehicle... That's the story. Hope you enjoyed it...

THE WHISTLING TEA KETTLE

Back in the 1890?s when trains of the Santa Fe Railroad first began to run in the vicinity of Ardmore, Oklahoma, one was held up by bandits seven miles from town where the tracks crossed Caddo Creek. Afterwards the robbers retired to an old house, where they divided and quarrelled over the spoils. One robber was shot and killed. It is a tradition that part or all of the booty was hidden for a time in or about the house. People soon began to say that the ghost of the murdered bandit walked about the place trying to find where the money was hidden and for many years nobody was willing to live there.

However, about seven years ago, a family named Lynch moved into the deserted building. One afternoon, in the summer, Mrs. Lynch left her two oldest children at home and crossed the fields to visit some neighbors. An hour later, she heard her children screaming and ran out with her friends to learn the cause. Almost in hysterics, the youngsters came flying along shouting that someone was tearing the kitchen to pieces and that the tea-kettle was laughing and singing. Mrs. Lynch and others went to investigate. They found the tea-kettle steaming in the middle of the kitchen floor. A fire was burning in the cook stove, though none had been burning in it when Mrs. Lynch left home. The mystification of the onlookers was changed to horror when they observed that drops of blood were sprinkled about. The next day, the Lynches moved out and no family has lived in the building since . . . .

Ellis Perkins, who lives in the vicinity, had the latest known experience in the old dwelling. One afternoon, about four years ago, he was caught in a heavy rain storm while hunting. The only shelter . . . was offered by the old house, so he and his bull dog ran into it to get out of the rain. He walked upstairs and looked around the second floor, but there was no sign of recent occupancy. He shut the door at the top of the stairway and descended. As his foot left the lowest step, his dog sprang around and looked toward the top, his hair bristling; then began to bark as though he scented the presence of a stranger. Mr. Perkins said that he also looked back toward the top of the stairs. Under his gaze the door knob turned. The door opened, as though to permit someone to pass on to the stairway, and closed noiselessly. The hunter waited for nothing more. Followed by his yelping dog, he sprang to the front door and rushed out into the downpour. The wind must have blown the door open, friends tell him, but his invariable retort is, How could the wind have turned the door knob?

A Child's Laughter

The summer after a girl turned 6, her family moved into a little house...4 rooms downstairs and 2 rooms upstairs. Even in the summer the 2 upstairs rooms were cool, which is odd because we all know that heat rises. It wasnt long before other odd things began to happen.
Thinking the upstairs rooms would be great as a bedroom and a playroom for the girl and her brother, their mom started cleaning the rooms. She discovered attics on both sides. Those attics quickly began to fill up with unused items.
Mom was cleaning out the attic in one of the rooms and found old stuff, like old bags of walnuts, etc. and she kept noticing how cold it was in there. She felt like she was being watched. She would turn around only to find herself alone. The she felt someone tap her on the shoulder. She turned to see who it was, only to find herself alone again. This unnerved the mother, so she left.
She later had the same experience, so she kept the attic door locked. It was then she decided to stop letting the girl and her brother sleep up there and have the rooms as a playroom only.
One night the mother had fallen asleep on the couch while watching tv only to be awakened by running and giggling upstairs. She also thought it was entirely too late for the child to be up. So she got up to go tell the girl to go back to bed. The entry to the upstairs was in the kids' room. She glanced over at the kids and they were both snug in their beds. Imagine her surprise to see her children sound asleep.
The mother thought they had a ghost and the dad thought the mom was having vivid dreams. The mom asked the landlord if there had been any unusual disturbances or deaths in their house. The only thing the landlord could tell her was that they had lost a baby girl at birth and then they moved away.
The mother told a friend about the ghost and it was soon that the friend's teenage daughters were begging to have a sleepover in the upstairs room. So one Friday night the girls were all camped out upstairs and while they didnt see anything or hear any laughter, it wasnt long before they all went downstairs. It was just too cold to sleep and they felt like they were being watched all the time.
Dad became convinced too. One afternoon he and the mom were working in the garden when he went inside to get a drink. He then heard the running and laughter. He thought it was the kids, so he called their names and told them to settle down. He went back outside and hadnt gotten off the porch when he saw the children playing on the swingset.
They lived in the house about a year and a half and they all heard the child's laughter. The ghost was pleasant and never did anything but play. They never found out who the ghostchild was or why it was there. But she must have been happy at that old house.

A Visit from a Friend

When Sara was 12, her family moved to Tennessee. The first friend she made was a girl named Wanda. They would spend hours on the phone. They were both shy, so they became best friends quickly.
One night Sara went to bed a little later than usual. She hadnt talked to Wanda in about a week, but for some reason Sara couldnt get Wanda off her mind. Sara had a rough time going to sleep, but she finally drifted off thinking she would call Wanda the next day.
Sara awoke during the night feeling panicked. She turned over and what she saw made her blood run cold. She saw Wanda dressed in an oversized football jersey and she was looking at Sara with a strange expression on her face. She seemed more confused than scared. What frightened Sara were Wanda's eyes. In place of where her eyes would have been were flames. This sight scared Sara so badly, she threw the covers over her head. She tried to rationalize her thoughts by thinking she had had a bad dream and woke up before it ended. So she uncovered her head, but Wanda was still standing there.
Wanda turned to look behind her, looked at Sara again, as if she were sorry about something and then disappeared.
It took hours for Sara to go back to sleep. Sara was awakened the next morning by her mom saying she had a phone call. She made her way to the phone and was told Wanda had died the night before.
Wanda's house had caught on fire. The firemen arrived quickly and put a ladder to her window. Wanda looked down at her pleading parents on the ground below. She turned around, and then disappeared back into the burning house.
They found Wanda cuddled up with her brother. They think she heard her brother and turned back to go get him. Sara was afraid to ask what Wanda was wearing, she had already heard too much.
Sara doesnt know why Wanda came to her that night. Maybe just to say goodbye, but it has caused Sara many sleepless nights since.

The House Next Door
A true story wiether you choose to believe it or not.

When I was about 12 my mother moved us to a little town in Pa called Endevor. We lived in a nice white house on route 666. Next door to us on the left as a small trailor, to the right a shell of a burnt down house. The first week that we were there everything was nice. It was summer, I had made a friend and the house was coming along. One night however I had woke to the sound of a girl crying. Thinking it was my baby sister I got up to have a look. My sister, Grace was sleeping peacefully, and the crying had gottin louder. I looked around for the source and found it was coming from outside my window. My window was on the righ side of our house which made me very confused. No one lived to the right of us. I went my window to look and saw that a light was on in the upstairs window of burnt house. Frightened I ran back to bed and hid, but the crying would not stop. The next day I was outside search for some reason for the nightly activity. Suddenly a little girl in a pink dress came around the corner of the house holding a jump rope. She watched me for a moment then walked away. I went after her, but could not find her any where. That night the crying happened again. Being the quistive girl I am, I went to my window to see if the light in the house next door was on. This time I saw the house up in flames. I never went near the house next door agian.

Yikes! So, was the house *really* on fire again, or were you just seeing what had happened before?

Very cool story, lilith.

A Series Of My Own Experiences

this started when i was really really young. Around 5-6 years old. when i had a very high fever. I don't really remember that much anymore, but, the last thing i remembered is that seeing myself wrapped with a blanket. My dad carrying me out of the room, while my mom follows him, checking on my other three siblings in the other room. I remember my vision to be a little foggy. And i felt so light. I even felt myself and my parents pass in front of me. After that, I barely remember anything.

Then, i started seeing things that aren't supposed to see. LET ME TELL YOU ALL OF IT...

We moved to Pampanga, Philippines from Manila. My dad built us our house. It was surrounded my empty fields of grass.ANYWAY.

MY FIRST EXPERIENCE:
I share my room with my older sister, and my two other siblings (boys), share the room next to ours. sometimes at night, we'd wake up hearing footsteps from outside our room (by the way,our house is mostly made out of wood.. i mean the interior decor). THE STAIRS. first, the thumps were slow, as if climbing up the stairs, then sudden fast thumps, as if running down again. My brothers would often knock on our room to check on us. I remember seeing them holding the baseball bat. Then, altogether, we'd go down the stairs and peek. there was no one there.

MY SECOND EXPERIENCE:
Being a typical young girl, i was often given a doll, usually those which makes noise or sings. I had this doll that sings TWINKLE, TWINKLE, LITTLE STAR every time you press a button on in it's chest. It's quite hard to press because of the doll's cushion. So, anyway... At night, my mom would always keep it inside a drawer. BUT DURING OUR SLEEP, WE SOMETIMES HEAR IT SING ON IT'S OWN. At first, we'd think that maybe there's just something wrong with the doll itself. So, we removed the BATTERIES... But still, we'd hear it sing... EVEN WITHOUT IT'S BATTERIES...
