Emotional upheaval tends to make me eat more. :-(

I'm on a roll. This morning as soon as I took my daughter to school, I walked very briskly for 20 minutes, then rode my exercise bike for 25, and used my hand weights for 10 (I thought I was stronger than that!). I had a healthy breakfast of soy protein mixed with milk, a little chocolate flavoring, and a banana along with a handful of vitamins. And I just finished sipping a cup of chai while I read e-mail and checked in here. Now I'm going to hop in the shower, then do laundry and tackle thoroughly cleaning my kitchen, an Herculean task! I have to rake MORE magnolia leaves and bag them, too, so they will be ready for trash pick up tomorrow. See y'all later!

I do kind of rush headlong into projects. Unfortunately, I often run out of steam and don't complete them as well as I should. :-)

I walked with a friend at noon, then went to the grocery store for dog food and such. I just finished a nice salad and strawberries, and I'm ready to go again. <G>

Congrats, antiana!

I fixed a lovely chicken salad (just chicken and low fat mayo) for dinner. I splurged and had Kaiser rolls since I was feeding our assistant rector. With that I had Romaine lettuce (for the sandwiches), baby carrots, sliced red and yellow bell peppers, strawberries, grapes, and apricots. It was a yummy dinner! <G>

I'm only going to be able to walk tomorrow morning since someone is coming to work on my bathroom. But I should be able to get my noon walk in unless it's raining.

I also bought new, digital scales and will weigh myself in the morning.

I'm strangely tired, so I'm off to bed. Nite!

Remember not to weigh yourself too often...once a week is plenty.

LiamFan, I know I shouldn't weigh myself more than once a week, but I had to check out my new scales last night. I'm glad that I did and that I had my daughter try them too or I would think they were broken! Last night I weighed exactly what I had weighed at the doctor's, but this morning I was 6 pounds lighter. Just to make sure, I had C weigh herself again, and she was 1 pound lighter. Is it really possible that I could have lost that much water weight overnight? I know I bloat, but that is ridiculous! LOL Anyway, I will resist the temptation to weigh myself again for a few days. My new scale is really cool, though. :-)

I only walked this morning because a friend was supposed to be here at 9:00 to work on my bathroom. However, he hasn't shown up yet. :-( I had to increase the distance of my walk because I walked the amount I did yesterday and the day before in only 10 minutes! So I went down the hill and looped around another street. I must be walking much faster, but it didn't feel like it. I'm going to use my hand weights now, then get back to work on my cleaning. See y'all!

I have absolutely no energy this morning. I got my walk in, and I'm going to drag myself upstairs and ride the exercise bike, but I would really like to go back to bed and sleep all day. Groan.....

{{{{{Friends}}}}} I find I eat as healthy as possible until my "monthly migraine" hits, and then I just eat foods that won't aggrevate my stomach. I haven't started exercising yet, but I ordered an FM radio/watch with little bud headphones from the Avon lady to inspire me to walk. A new toy will usually help motivate me, at least for a while. I don't enjoy carrying or hooking up a walkman when walking, because I feel physically unbalanced, so I'm hoping something unobtrusive and lightweight like a watch will work better. I've tried walking without music, but find I don't enjoy it enough to keep it up. At least I feel I'm gearing up to exercise by ordering that watch radio.<p>
I don't know if I've lost or gained - it's pretty pointless to weigh myself this week, because I'm probably bloated and would just discourage myself by weighing in today. I weigh myself roughly weekly, and have a great set of doctor's scales that zero out, then I slide the weights back and forth until it balances like at the doctor's office. I know it's accurate, so I don't have the angst about accuracy that I did with the normal at-home style scales. <p>
I find this folder motivational, and I admire everyone's efforts! Hopefully I'll have something to crow about again soon.

Oh poor bikerxena! You get a migraine then? The bloat and backache are bad enough! Have you tried the health food store for a tea that can help with the bloat and maybe even the migraine? Feverfew is very good for migraines. Also, sometimes bananas can help with migraine, although for some people they aggravate it. My son responded to the bananas. Another thing that helps with the migraine is hot sauce--eat some very hot Mexican food.

I like to carry on conversations in my head while I'm walking, although I think I would enjoy music too as I'm a singer. I agree that a Walkman would be annoying. Have you tried walking with a friend? That is a nice way to walk.

I'm having a party tomorrow night to celebrate my new job. I'm so pleased with my menu because I think it is fairly healthy. I'm having chicken salad (with low fat sour cream, a tiny bit of brown sugar, and curry powder), guacamole and baked tortilla chips, veggies with chile con queso, fresh fruit, cheese and crackers, and Mexican hors d'oeuvres. :-) I'm not going to eat dinner. I'm just going to eat at my party.

Thumbs up

Way to go Kathe! <clap, clap>

I'm afraid I gained back three pounds over the weekend.:-( I fell off the diet wagon big time with my friends being here for my party, then staying till after 6:00 Sunday. I climbed back on today, however.

I may be presumptious in hugging you all.. but my hugs are genuine.

sheesh hope I spelled that right.. we webbies don't have spell check except on our email. lol and yes I have a dictionary, just my glasses are upstairs.

Well instead of losing the 5 pounds... I lost "6", for the month. Woohooo!

Now a total of 17 pounds.

shergo.. in my experience the first pounds to go, especially a loss like 6 pounds is a body adjustment. Water weight and things. Hang in there you can do it! It may seem slow.. but when I come back in here and read what I have accomplished I wonder where did the time go.

And you also have to worry about meals for your daughter so food is on your mind. It is easier to sit down once a week and plan out the meals.. get the food and anything that needs roasted or baked to it all at once. Then freeze it. If it is produce go get it twice a week. But stick to your list. Hey and don't beat yourself up over celebrating a new job. By the way "Congrats!"

Antiana, thanks for the encouragement and the suggestion about roasting and baking and planning meals in advance. I need to do that.

I really went off today because I got horribly depressed. I know I'm being silly and childish, but I felt left out by some friends and then got some other friends angry with me because *I* was hurt by something *one of them* said. So I went off and ate a double cheeseburger, large fries, and a coke.

I'm really so unhappy tonight. :-(
