(((((((((( DLC ))))))))))) Thank you very much! So far following up on the info you supplied. Waiting again for doctor to get back to me since he is high demand lately. Main thing I am hoping to find is a list of foods for meals i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner and what can be exchanged so I am eating a better meal.
Otherwise getting ready to babysit tonight and tomorrow is luncheon and pow wow. Have a great day!

WolfAngel, you'll be hard pressed to find a "list". What you need to understand is that diabetics can have just about any food they want, within reason. Any dietician will tell you that. What "you" need to discover is how your body reacts to different foods. There's no premade list, no magic answer. For a diabetic, the answers lie in your own discoveries about portions, fat and carbohydrate content, sugar content and everything else listed on a container. The dietician can tell you what ranges to stay within but ultimately it's up to you to make your menus, lists and how you prepare your food.
I will tell you this, it's not cheap. Healthy eating is more expensive than you can ever imagine. Shop the stores, use coupons and plan to spend at least 90 minutes or longer in the grocery store when you first start. Get rid of your vegetable oils and start using, if you haven't already, canola oil and virgin olive oil, in moderation of course. Buy a good set of measuring spoons and cups and use them religously when making your meals. Ditch the salt and use salt substitutes. Learn to use every type of spice and herbs to cook with. Whenever possible buy fresh fruits and vegetables. If you buy frozen, make sure they are frozen with no salt, sugar or minimal additives. On the health side you'll need to find a heart doctor, podiatrist(foot doc) and if needed, a pulmonary doc. Each of these doc's need to be very familiar with diabetics. An illness in a diabetic can cause your blood sugar to go wacky. Foot and skin care is a must for a diabetic. I can tell you from experience that a simple cut on your foot or leg can get infected in a matter of days. It's not pretty and it hurts like hell. Having a very good foot cream should be a staple in the house of a diabetic. I know it sounds like I'm preaching<g> But, been there, done that. My dad was an insulin dependant diabetic. I made a promise to myself that I never wanted to go that route so I really try to be good. I'd really like to exercise more but I figure working two jobs and going up and down the stairs here qualifies my exercise, lol. Sure I cheat, you need to in order to save your sanity. But make it a rare occasion. I'll give you a little break now until I think of something else! |

(((( Everyone ))))
Missing in action! LOL.. Okay here is the run down of things real fast.. Don't wanna get in trouble for being out of bed.. Went in last Monday night for enducment.. Dr put a pill in my cervix to dialate me and thin me, it worked, but Joshua was still way up there. So after 16 hours of hellO they sent me back home. Went to Dr today, still the same so, Sunday at 5pm I have to be back to LD and they are going to try 2 pills in the cervix. One at 8pm one at 2am and then patossin (spellling) at 6am. If that don't work I go in for a c-section. So lets' hope it works. Other than that, I am still chuncky and sore.. ROFL.. Say a little prayer that Joshua makes his appearence Monday I hope everyone has a great weekend and stays safe. I will try to pop back on before I leave for LD on Sunday. May end up doing it on neighbors puter when I drop kids off.. LOL.. shhh don't tell hubby.... Huggers Dac + Baby

(((( Ladies ))))
I am pleased to introduce our newest WOW member. Joshua Michael October 20, 2008 5:07 pm 8 pounds 10 ounces 21 1/2 inches Happy healthy baby boy. He has a smidge of jaundice (sp) So we have to go back to Dr. in the morning. Hopefully his level will not be any higher than it was today, was 15 this morning and if it hits 17 they are going to admit him and put him under the billy blanket for a day or two. Dr. said nothing to worry about.. Will let everyone know more when I find out.. It was a hard call.. Got the eppie at 9 water broke at 11 didn't wanna push, was gonna do a c-section but ran out of time ROFL! Had to have him the hard way.. Gawd I about died. Had a blast though lol.. Dr came in right as Joshua's chest popped out. Yep he got there just in time to catch.. LOL.. I just got home and wanted to post a few pics while he is sleeping. Wanted to thank everyone for your prayers and good thoughts. I am glad to be able to share him with my WOW family.. Pictures of Joshua will be in my album soon as I can get them loaded Hugs and more hugs Daccie

Yay, DACD!!! Yay, Joshua!!!
I had to laugh when I saw his first and middle names...I almost named my oldest son (now 34 yo) Joshua Michael. The names just sort-of go together. But anyway, YAY! |
