I've done the beading on plastic canvas using seed beads and cross-stitch patterns. And I have a small loom that I got at a crafts store and it makes long strips using seed beads.

You can also do off loom weaving using the peyote stitch, or the brick stitch or other types of stitches. For earrings, the brick stitch or the square stitch are used a lot.

Mickey!

I went to your web site and checked out the pictures of you wired pieces. I love em! I've been beading for a while now either on a loom or off, but have always wanted to get into the wiring. I was wondering if the investment of the wire and the pliers needed is costly? And do you have any suggestions of books, etc where I could learn some techniques?

Making Wire Jewelry does not use beads but I've made a couple of bracelets out of it and I need to get the pictures posted. <g>

Bead & Wire is good too and those necklaces that are posted are out of that book.

Another good one is called Wild Wire and it has patterns for more than just jewelry. And I got that one at Michael's. And they carry all the supplies you need including a jig for less than $20. They aren't expensive in my opinion. They also have pliers and jigs some wire in one package so you don't have to buy individual things. It's all up to you. And you know where to find the beads. <g>

As far as pliers are concerned you can get them just about anywhere. The wire you can also find at Wal-Mart. Only in the 20 and 18 gauges.

You can have one made in a couple of hours, depending on how many links you put in it. It's the coils that take the longest naturally.

Are there any quilters out there? I am doing my best to teach myself the ropes but having someone to bounce ideas off of would be great!

As we speak I am working on a queen size quilt for my bed. I am looking for short-cuts on making binding strips. Any ideas would be great!

I found this site about binding. It has illustrations and clear instructions. I'm not sure if it's a faster method than what you use now, but it shows ways to make both bias and straight binding and explains when to use each.

I'm currently working on getting my arts/crafts supplies organized. It's been an ongoing project for years! lol But I'm making progress and soon I'll be able to get back to actually making things. My floss is all organized on bobbins with the corresponding numbers and then in clear boxes.

I work full-time too and know how precious free time is to work on projects, so Happy Crafting!

How do you organize your floss and what project are you currently working on?

(((( Everyone ))))

I popped into WomensSpace yesterday while craft chat was in progress. WillowWOW told us all how to make Gel Candles!! I thought it would be and easy and fun thing to do with the kids. So I went out and bought the stuff WillowWOW said we would need. Potpourri, jello, wicks, jars and decorations.

I found myself loving vanilla, so I got vanilla potpourri, 3 different kinds of jello, LOL they did not have the regular non smelly kind, so it was rasbbery, (red) lemon lime (green) and coconut (kinda yellow/blue). I got 3 jars, the jars I got are like mini canasters LOL, they have the lids with them, which is cool, because you can put the lid on the candle to save the smell *g*

Anyway... Decorated with rose petals, bay leaves (un-cut) ad cinn sticks.

I did not add the wicks to mine. Ok, so I forgot to *g* but they are still great!

They are beautiful! You can get so creative with these. They are easy and cheap, it cost me like $5.00 for the supplies and the kids loved to help make them. Awesome 'home-made' gift ideas that everyone will love.

So my review of Gel Candles on a scale of 1 to 10 one being lowest and 10 the highest, I give them a perfect 10. I also hope everyone else will try these!
