Wink OK just curious

(((((((IRISH)))))))))
Sounds like a good idea...Now here is what I am confused about?

Is NanaWOW going to change her Chat name or just the topic?

Its very gracious of her to do either one. I know that she may get others to help her with this endeavor.<WEG>

Yes rice cakes are good but I try to keep it in the flavored rice cakes LOL the originals aren't that flavorful.

Now I dont know about ya'll but I did find out that turkey burgers are yummy.

Here is the way I usually cook it.
First get your ground turkey meat and shape them into burgers. About the size of your palm is about four ounces. Mind you dont make it three inches thick! LOL

*sometimes I use these ingredients and fold them into the burgers...makes them tasty.

Other ingredients needed are:
2 tablespoons minced garlic *
1/2 cup chopped up scallions *
McCormick's Grilling Seasoning for Chicken
I can't believe its not butter spray
One frying pan

Put your frying pan on the stove and spray it with the butter spray.

Let your heat be medium high.

Toss in 1 tblspoon of minced garlic and 1/4 cup of scallions in with a sprinkling of your seasoning.

Place your burger in the pan, cover with a lid. Sprinkly again with seasoning.

Put a lid on it this will help cook it without mashing the burger.

Once the one side is done flip and cook other side.

Once the burger is finished being cooked, drain and put on your plate.

This goes well with a small salad of onions and cucumbers and lite salad dressing...I prefer wos-wits Bacon Salad Dressing. Yummy!!!

When I can get one, I will try to get a digital since the family has the other one (old fashion kind) messed up! Grrrr

Although I did weigh myself last week, I havent so far. Yes I am drinking plenty of water.....Mainly ice cold.

As far as moving my feet when I am sitting at the computer, I usually have a small tennis ball or old soda plastic bottle to roll my feet over so is that the same? Just curious.

Oh yes what did you think of my idea of a name?

Have a great day!

Irish, great tips for snacking - I have a good one too, I used it alot my last time trying to "get healthy". I dont know if you all have the caramel dip for apples in the US like we have here. Here you can find it in the produce area, and you microwave it to make the caramel runny, then you dip sliced apples into it - talk about YUM! So, anyways, that dip is not exactly diet-conscious, so I tried apples dipped into low-fat butterscotch pudding - not quite as good as the caramel dip but still has that satisfying sweetness......and the pudding and the apple together only costs 2 WW points, very good deal.

susie what a great idea. Yes, we do have that carmel you can melt. You see it around here more in the fall. ( which is almost upon us. )

Speaking of WW s I picked up some College Inn Chicken broth/ any brand will suffice/. .. That can be used in place of milk when making mashed potatoes. It can be used as a base for soups, If you pick up the low fat one check out the sodium content . I found the low fat one had a much higher content of sodium. Sodium is a no no for me / or not bad in low doses. ( hmmm don't tell my doctor I said that )

I really did behave today!!! Went out to lunch.. had broiled scrod, with zucchini. For dessert I got the kids portion... 1 scoop of van ice cream topped with strawberries ... ok ok so I had a wee bit of whipped cream on it.
Aha!! Saved the lunch with a large iced water ~ lemon.. rofl Hey, it's hard being good. Needs a lot of work.

(((((((Liamfan))))))))
That is totally your choice of when to start. I find it easier to start before a holiday....Just keep in mind portion size and keep your control.

Now here is some useful info I compiled:

From Msn Health articles

15 tips of being busy instead of being bored
--------------------------------------------
Stop making excuses - once you know you engage in unhealthy eating habits look for other forms of contentment.

Walk the dog - or an outdoors in the fresh air aka a walk if you dont have a dog.

Listen to music - Something like Beethoven satisfying with lots of notes and relaxing.

Be creative - do crafts paint sew draw shape clay or beading
take a bubble bath - its fun as well as restorative and indulgent good for men too.

Practice deep breathing - need expert guidance but focused breathing dissapates your boredom
meditate - try different forms til you find the one that is right for you.

Read - Biographies of inspiration people.

Drink Herbal Tea - Cinnamon tea is a good choice.

Balance your body - eat smaller meals per day keep sugar levels down
Repeat an affirmation - reinforce your commitment to a better life an inspiring quote.

Call a friend - pick up the phone call a friend.

Prepare healthy food - get excited about food most calories come from the same old 10 foods.

Do Housework - satisfaction in a clean house.

Develop a list - make the list twice and things to keep you busy.

6 tips to reset your 'Fat Thermostat'
-------------------------------------
Work it out - exercise is key to increasing your metabolic rate and burn calories.

Think long term - which can be longer but wont trigger your fat alarms.

No quick fix - two or three days of restricted levels of food body goes on red alert so go slow.

Banish binges - cognitive memory find it psychologically difficult to adjust changes instead of overindulging cut back over a few days rather than starve or pig out for a week.

Keep it regular - Dont go longer than three hours without eating something but keep it healthy.

Be patient - you can retrain your body but it takes time Rome wasnt built in a day.

Plus I am going to put some recipes that I get in email in the Kitchen folder. Some look real good.

Have a great day!

Together WE Can Lose . Let's do it !!!

Before beginning ANY weight loss/ exercise program to check with your physician first!!!! Getting the approval along with your checkup should be mandatory . It's safer for you that way.

Please heed the above it's important.

Tango has graciously asked if she could contact a few experts in this field. Hopefully though their acceptance we will have some suggestions, advise on how to accomplish our goals.
This by no means endorses any one individual. Neither does it endorse a group. It is Strickly for informational purposes only. They ( if they agree to come ) will be ans questions, giving overall views, maybe some reminders on taking small steps.

At this point I'd like to suggest that each of us sets a realistic goal. One we know we as individuals can achieve...
For ex if you have 20#s to lose.... set your goal at 10# .. when you reach that 10#s congratulate yourself. Do something positive for you. Then set the next goal...

Now for us that have more to lose .. one small step... set the goal at 15#s. as above Congratulate yourself.. then set yourself up for the next 10#s or 15#s.... DON't LOOK at the OVERALL WEIGHT but .. REALISTIC GOALS will help you reach the mark much faster..

Set yourself up to succeed !!! realistic goals can do that! Going for the whole thing is setting yourself up to fall.... As in anything 1 small step at a time.

We are trying for the 2nd or 3rd Friday in Sept for the guest speakers..
HOWEVER
If you are around Fri Sept 2nd Come to WS Shampoo Corner and get motivated.

((((((( LiamFan, Wolf_Angel, Tango, Susieb, pearlcat, nobeef, and all)))))))) Remember .. Together WE Can Lose.. Let's do
it!!!!!

Postive Attitude!!! No Put Downs!!

Wow wee

(((((IRISH)))))))

I second that motion on checking with your doctor prior to doing a weight loss program.

Plus, I like the other idea of Tango getting some experts for a question and answering segment for us. To help us and advise us what is healthy and needed. Of course, we should get a second opinion from our own family doctor prior and while doing the weight loss program. This way we are being safe and smart at the same time.

I have created what I have dubbed my zones....Zones are the realistic goals I have set for myself. Plus, I checked things out using a BMI calculator.
This takes my height and weight to tell me what my Body Mass Index. Thought this would show me another way at looking at myself.

I am not saying everyone do this. Its more for myself to see what happens when the weight comes off. So it's a guide point for me to set my goals realistically. Thinking I can shed 55 pounds in few months is ridiculous. Thus I have done as you said, set it for something easier. Hence ten pounds. Not sure what I am going to reward myself with yet. LOL

Yes hence,
If you plan to fail then you failed to plan. Something taught to me by a wise sweet lady. ((((MD))))

So far I love reading and the responses on this. I know we can do it!

Have a great day!

Two things:

First, the update. Son has lost 40 pounds!

Second thing: I notice quite a few on here are going for the weight loss. If you need a low-fat snack, here's one:

Pineapple angelfood cake:

1 box angelfood mix (Betty Crocker works well)
1 20 ounce can crushed pineapple with juice

Mix pineapple into dry mix in large bowl. Pour into 9X13 inch metal pan. (Do NOT add anything else; ONLY dry mix and pineapple with juice.) Bake on bottom shelf in oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Slice into 16 pcs. top w/ more pineapple pcs. Yummy.

Talking Yum in my tum tum LOL

Now that is something I will be wanting to try. There is actually a lady that I happen to know that uses mainly juices from blueberries and such fruits to add to her cookies and etc. So I will have to try that one out.
Thank you
Have a great day!

It seems to me that a big problem for many of us seems to be motivation. How can we make exercise fun and where can we find the strength to stay motivated and focused on our fitness goals?

Well, funny you should ask!!

Winn Claybaugh, an award-winning writer and motivational speaker offers tips and advice in answer to this very question! Check out his column here.

Please note: This column is copyright by the author and appears at Women's Web with the author's permission. Incidentally, Winn is currently helping with hurricane relief efforts, but I hope to have him appear as a chat guest to answer your questions about self-esteem, motivation, self-empowerment and assertivness — things we all struggle with from time to time.
