Welcome HandsinClay and lanisha! I am jealous of both of you. I have wanted to work with clay for years and I've never been to the Caribbean. Did you get any damage from the storms this year?
This is a great site, there are so many different forums to choose from that it is difficult to pick out which ones to keep track of. Me, I just post everywhere.

"What are you studying?", asks the perpetual student.
I've paid enough tuition in my life that I don't even bother with real school anymore. But, I tend to be interested in everything! Keeps the brain working even when the body won't! LOL!

Amen to that, brede.
Why didn't I make my monster-in-law any grandbabies? Because the student finance people will probably take my first born to pay off what I owe in student loans.

Trust me
Kids are much more expensive to have than paying college tuition! I don't think the loan people would consider it a fair trade!

It wouldn't be. As far as the monster-in-law is concerned, my not making her grandbabies has cost me my soul...
But really, look me square in the eye and decide from my expression whether I give a rat's. *evil grin* There is a reason she is "affectionately" known as the monster-in-law, but telling you that story would exceed WOW's disk quota. Hehehehehe...

I was so lucky to have a supportive wonderful mother- in-law. I still have her but she is aging and seems to be in the throes of alzheimer's. It's very sad to all of us to see this sweet woman becoming grumpy and forgetful and frustrated.
I am also very lucky to have a great relationship with my own 2 daughter-in-laws. Maybe the key is that I stay out of their life decisions. I feel more like a friend than a mother to them. I love them like my own children but I don't want to run their lives and I trust them to make choices that work for THEM. Why am I going off on this tangent?? LOL |

My first m-i-l was a monster, but a strange thing happened when I divorced her son. She became my staunch supporter and ally. She died about 10 years ago and I do miss her. My second m-i-l I called Mom which describes how I felt/feel about her. She was actually Greg's step-mom and had only been married to Dad three years longer than Greg and I have been married. She always treated us like adults and considered us her children. She never had any of her own. I miss her terribly.
Poor Greg, he has the monster-in-law. Right now he is the good guy. For our anniversary, she sent him a present. Totally ignored me. But, I think she is in the early stages of alzheimers and has reverted back to the way she treated me when I was living under her roof. I left home at 17 - need I say more? Cod, I think you went off on your tangent because you love them so much. Nothing wrong with that. WA, you made the right choice for you. There's nothing wrong with that either. I only had one kid, I wanted more, but it didn't happen for me. In looking back, I see that having an only was probably the best thing for me. Having kids or not and how many are all personal choices that should never be questioned. IMHO
