I saw "Punch Drunk Love" this weekend. Wow! It's an amzing little film with fantastic direction and marvelous acting.

It's a somewhat surreal love story rife with dysfunctional characters and events. The filming itself was something to see if you like quirky, kind of bizarre, surreal"ish" type films.

Adam Sandler was fantastic! This is certainly not a kid's movie or a movie for more traditional Sandler fans.

"Igby Goes Down" is still my favorite movie so far this season, but I did like "Punch Drunk Love" very much.

I guess I'm just sort of quirky.

I love Adam Sandler when he's got something to work with. I can deal with quirky!

I've seen strong reactions to Igby from both sides...I think I trust Addie, though, and look forward to seeing it.

You're right Liam. I've read "I love this movie" and "Give me my money back" about Igby, but not much in the middle. It's just one of those love it or hate type movies.

My mom and dad went to see it and also thought it was fantastic. I went back again with Hayley and she promptly added Kieran Culkin to her list of prospective suitors.<g>

A 14 year old probably needs a little more life experience to get as much out of it as an adult, but she seems to have found a way to get all she needs.<g>

I don't know if I can live with quirky, now that I've thought more about this. I tend to like more conventional movies that don't take a whole lot of thought.

Isn't Jackass the Movie coming out soon?

And awwww to that list of suitors. I used to have a page at the back of my diary where I kept a list of guys I liked...no "real" guys, of course, just guys I'd seen on t.v.

I wish I still had that list...I'm sure it would be fascinating to revisit that nothin'-but-fun period of my life. I could probably remember some of the names if I tried hard enough.

Yeah...um...there was a definite pattern to the guys I liked. I remember a guy named Andrew Rubin, who played the son of the Jeffersons' next door neighbors, the Willises. He was 'passing' as white while his sister identified as black...it was an interesting episode.

I really liked Kristoffer Tabori, notable as the kid who commits suicide in Truman Capote's "The Glass House."

And the Vint brothers, Alan and Jess...for some reason, I really liked those guys.

It was a rather extensive list...

I'd like to see it as well. The previews looked interesting. I like the director, (L.A. Confidential, Wonder Boys) so unless I read absolutely horrible things about it from every message board and critic under the sun, I think maybe I'll go and see it this weekend.

btw... The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys was released on DVD this week. I saw it a while ago and I really liked it a lot. It's a coming of age film done very well. It's a little funny and it's a little sweet and it's very sad but then, so is coming of age.

I saw "Real Women Have Curves" in the movie theater today. This is a fun and warmhearted indie flick by HBO Films, who has a great track record when it comes to putting out great movies for women. I highly recommend this one, and even my daughter enjoyed it
