Hi! I have jsut recently gone back to work from being at home for 4 years. My 10 and 9 year olds seem to think that when I give them chores to do I don't mean it. I have tried allowance, rewards, specail priveledges, ect. to no avail. There room has gotten messier and if it was not for me the pets would have starved! Any suggestions on how to motivate them to help out and do what is required of them? I am open to any suggestions!

Have you tried removing privileges?

Also, you might want to have a chart of chores and have them earn stickers when they complete what's expected of them. The rewards can be based on stickers earned. (This usually works with our son)

I was 10 when I started mestruating, and I saw that Tampon is offering a learner's kit to help parents explain things to their daughters. You can get one by calling 1-866-545-8427 Thought it might come in handy for someone

I was lucky...I didn't start until 15.

But, you know, I'll probably go until into my 50's. Grr

Thanks DrHilie!!!!! With me having not one but 2 daughters I am sure that will come in handy. I didn't start until I was 17. And I have been told that women who start late go into menopause early.

I've never heard that, frozen. I've heard just the opposite (and, in my family, it seems to be the opposite).

Anyone else have info on this? Or is it just a very individualized thing?

There are 4 of us girls in our family. We all started at around 12, menopause in our early to mid 40's. Our mother was the same way. Oh and frozen, there is some truth to the rumor that women in the same family seem to have their cycles around the same time. At least we all did. My poor dad and brother never knew what to do with 5 of us going through PMS at the same time, lol!

lol I just posted in the Books folder. My 10 and 14 year old boys have both read it and love it. It's kind of long, but they say that it sucks you in. I haven't personally read it though, so I can't say for certain. I skimmed it, and older one read it first. He didn't say anything about it being too bad. There is some descriptive fighting and "gore" though. How old is she?

LOL! I posted here first and then saw the books section...

She is 12 going on 40. She reads at a 12th grade level and I have a hard time finding appropriate books for her!! jeez! She just got her report card all A's for the third quarter in a row and I'd like to reward her for it..but didn't want to buy it if is was "too much" book...ya know?? Do they think it's kinda like Harry Potter ish??

And that is exactly where I was until 6:15 this morning when my neighbor who is building someting in his new workshed right out by window decided to start pounding on something!! UGH!!! I couldn't figure out a way to politely say... "KNOCK IT OFF" without waking the whole neighbor hood, so I'm visiting here till I cool off and I'll go over and chat with his wife after she wakes up!! jeez!!!

I'd appreciate that Cinder... Addie tells me that the reviews online at amazon are all good... I just want to make sure... I know I know..I'm a bit overprotective sometimes...but, well... I'm her mom and I'm allowed to be.

right?
