Internet TV

I was told that buying a HDTV, and signing a long term contract with a cable company, is no longer a good thing to do. The better alternative is to watch most of the same programs, and many more, on the computer screen. The resolution is as good as on HDTV sets, or better. The name of this option is Internet TV.

Please share what you know and think about this option. Thank you in advance.

We have thought about the internet tv option because working with the cable companies can be such a PAIN. In a last ditch effort, we tried out dish tv los angeles, and have been pleased so far. Have you tried dish tv? There are tons of channels, and the price is good, and the customer service is tons better than anything else we have tried.

Thank you for information, Lady of the House. I did not try the Dish TV. And yes, dealing with the cable company is not easy.

I watch all of my "TV" online through a variety of viewing sites. While there are quite a few of them that require registration or even a paid subscription there are also a high number which are free. The drawback is that the shows are often delayed and not available for a few days after televised. Some of the networks such as CBS actually post poular sitcoms on their own sites but place a limit on how long each episode will be available...however...depending on the site or distributer there may still be commercials (sigh).
