Hey! I thought we had a football folder! Yesterday in WS a conversation got going and I really wanted to point it out to people.
I live in a Chiefs house, although I have always liked the Colts because they knock the Chiefs out of the playoffs every year. This may sound cruel, but once they are out our house can go back to normal for a little while. It isn't football talk 24-7 again until August or September - although it is here and there throughout the rest of the year due to newsgroups and email lists that give out info on tradings, etc. Sometimes I see how the internet might really be evil. ;-) We were also talking about how much football STUFF you have. Denn has three coats, and yes he uses them all. He has t-shirts, sweaters, hats, gloves, socks, underpants....the kids have little chiefs outfits. We have chiefs throws, garbage cans, piggy banks and a clock. Oh yes, and every single football videogame you could imagine with the Chiefs totally decked out. There are only a few months left until Denn loses his sanity once again, and we're slaves to the scores. I'm just glad he doesn't like college ball.

Uh-oh {{{{{DrHillieWho}}}}} - I'm a rabid Chiefs fan! <g><p>
I grew up a couple of hundred miles from KC, and could occasionally snag the family business' season tickets for a game when I was a teenager. Even though I live in California now, I still love the Chiefs.<p> This season, Vermeil is out of retirement as the new coach, and if he does as well with the Chiefs as he did with the Lambs...er, Rams, and before that Philly, the football world had better look out! I agree with the trading of Elvis Grbak - I felt the Chiefs really went off-course when they kept him and released Gannon to the Raiders a couple of years ago. (I really liked Marty Shottenheimer, and wasn't that thrilled with Gunther Cunningham as head coach.) Elvis just never came through with the big plays in the clutch, and couldn't seem to lead the team through the playoffs. Bubby Brister looks like a promising addition, as does Trent Green. <p> Football is the only thing that keeps me going as summer turns into fall, and fall to winter. It's a great excuse to get together with some of my favorite guy friends on winter Sundays, and Monday Night Football even goes a long ways toward making Mondays bearable.<p> I have a Chiefs banner on the wall, a denim Chiefs shirt, Chiefs sweatshirt, a couple of Chiefs t-shirts, a Chiefs bandana, Chiefs gym bag, Chiefs socks, Chiefs lighter, and a couple of Chiefs hats that I can think of right off. I enjoy wearing my Chiefs gear when watching the games with friends. I even enjoy the friendly rivalry when the Chiefs are playing one of my friends' favorite teams - we make silly bets and roust on each other mercilessly. It's fun!<p> My favorite Chiefs memory is of taking my brother, who was in high school, to a Chiefs game with me on the college fan bus when I was in college. It was a cold, crisp night, and I think it's the night my brother became a rabid Chiefs fan. <g> It's something we still share, and that makes me happy. :-)

Football in Arizona is a joke, but I hope once they quit fighting about where to put the Arizona Cardinal's stadium and get to building it that people will really get excited and support our local team here. Or at least go to a KC game at our new stadium and root for the Chiefs! Lifes a game, so you better play in it. Sunshine!

psst Myhinny Umm the only colors the Raiders saw Thursday was gold and red as the 49ers STOMPED alll over them

i just noticed the thread starts first and ten at he two yard line.Sound like the some teams going the wrong way. They must be getting chased by Black & silver sackers.

BY DARREN SABEDRA<BR> Knight Ridder Newspapers<BR> SAN JOSE, Calif. - (KRT) - As it turned out, the question Thursday night wasn't how did Neil Parry play? No, the question was would the San Jose State special-teams player ever get onto the field? Parry might have been ready to play for the first time since he suffered a compound fracture that led to the amputation of his lower right leg three seasons ago. The Spartans' defense was not. Its inability to stop Nevada from cruising up and down the field prevented Parry, a member of the San Jose State punt-return team, from playing until 13:20 left in the game. "I'm feeling bad for the Spartan team, not just Neil," Parry's father, Nick, said with Nevada leading 26-10 at halftime. "It's a little frustrating. But they'll bring it together." Every time it appeared Neil would play, Nevada made yet another first down. The Wolf Pack converted three third-down plays on their first possession and finished the first half 7 for 8 in that category. "I wish I was still out there on defense," Parry's older brother, Josh, said at halftime. "Get a little inspiration going." Once Neil Parry entered the game, he joined the punt-coverage unit and was blocked at the line of scrimmage before heading downfield. Josh Parry threw both hands in the air, exulting at seeing his brother in the game. Josh was a standout linebacker for San Jose State the year Neil was injured and is now a member of the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad. "Right now he is probably more nervous than anything," Josh said at halftime. Playing "in the first half would have been great because he could have saw how it was going to go. But regardless of what happens, I'm proud of him." Parry, 23, a fifth-year senior, spent much of the first half either standing alone or near Keith Allen, the Spartans' special-teams coach. In the third quarter, with Parry still on the sideline, the crowd urged the defense to make a stop. But as it chanted "De-fense, de-fense," Nevada quarterback Andy Heiser converted another third-down play, completing an 8-yard pass to Nichiren Flowers to the Nevada 30. Things immediately quieted down, and the Wolf Pack drove for another score. Parry said during in the week that he visualized many scenarios for his return. This probably wasn't one of them. All attention was on Parry long before the game kicked off. Cameras greeted Parry as he made his way from the team bus about 4:30 p.m. From there, Parry made the short walk to the locker room, where his dream began to come into focus. "He definitely had his game face on," said his prosthetist, Mike Norell, who checked in with Parry in the locker room shortly before 5. "It is unbelievable how good he looks," Josh Parry said. "I'm so proud of him. Words can't even describe it. I just admire him so much." Neil emerged from the locker shortly after 6 p.m., holding hands with reserve wide receiver James Jones as a double-file line of Spartans headed to the field. A swarm of media shadowed Parry, scribbling notes, snapping photos and shooting video as he stretched with his teammates near the north end zone. "That a baby, Neil," a man shouted from the bleachers, tapping his heart as he pointed toward Parry. "There are a lot of unknowns tonight," Chuck Bell, San Jose State's athletic director, said as he watched warm-ups. Asked how Parry looked in the locker room, Bell said: "He was in a zone." Parry overcame so many obstacles to make his return a reality, on the field and off, Bell wondered if the day would come. It wasn't until last spring, when Bell attended a ceremony in Phoenix in which Parry received the Gene Autry Courage in Sports Award, that his faith was restored. Parry's brother, Josh, was there as a surprise guest. "At that point, I felt again that, yeah, he would make it," Bell said. "It was so moving." It took more than a half for Parry to play Thursday night.
