Talking Exercise.....

This is what a Roomie and I were chatting about the other night.....

"Well even cleaning your house is exercise
If you have stairs you are doing the eliptical aka stair master
If you are sweeping using a broom you are twisting your abs and toning them up
bending over to pick things up is touching your toes
Even if you only have one step
Even dancing is a work out
You know how the hawaiian girls do the hula?
Well if you were to plant your left leg and do the hula going in a 360 degree turn holding your abs that is a workout
Yes plus if you reverse the above and do it on your right that does the work on the other side of your body
Plus I stretch out when bending over to pick things up doing it nice and slow
Like as if you were doing ballet
Then when you are sitting at your computer in your chair twist your back to the right and then to the left but hold it a few minutes each
Raise your arms up above your head to help the center of your back
Now you know those 2 liter soda bottles
After you are done with one save it When sitting in your computer chair roll your socked covered feet over it
This is your exercise for you feet and legs
And if you put in warm water its like a heated massage"

So if you think about it and realize when you are doing the things mentioned above you are doing Exercises....I really like playing music while cleaning it puts a zing in cleaning and doing the Exercises is more fun.

Have a great day!

I guess the key is doing the moves (or exercises) for a long enough, sustained period of time to have any kind of effect.

The worst thing I ever did for my health was buy a car. When I walked everywhere, I never had a weight problem.

Recently, I discovered the Exercise OnDemand channel on our cable system...they have dozens of programs of all kinds, ranging from kick boxing to belly dancing. So far, I've only explored one of the belly dancing programs (quite fun, I have to say!), but I intend to try some of the others, including the yoga ones. If I find one I like, I'll burn it (or others) to DVD and try to keep it up.

I totally agree.....its just getting the motivation to move...back in the day we didnt have a choice. Yet with new technologies it makes it easier to be lazy. So get up and enjoy Life! Get Moving to live longer.

Have a great day!

Along time ago I did the Richard Simmons "Sweating to the oldies" workout video. They recently re-released it and silly me went to Amazon and ordered it.
My 11 yr old daughter wants to start doing it with me today.......ack, I'm not as young as I used to be. But I liked the songs and dances enough to REALLY do it some 10 yrs ago......who knows. I also did the Jane Fonda workout after I had mastered Richards. Jane's was tough. I remember hurting with that one.
Anyone else familiar with either?

Oh yes, good ole Richard Simmons Sweating to the Oldies, I think I still have the tape 1 and 2.. lol. Wonder where they are now... Love the songs too. Shoot don't think the body can move quite like it did then.

Me to body... "Twist and shout .."

Body to me..." You real want to knock your self out !" " I don't think so!!!"

I have done Richard Simmons. I just got a new version of his videos. (80's version) I actually enjoy his videos. His exercises are realistic. I know I can do them. I tried taibo once. Let's just say only once. I hurt myself too much on that one.

Well Helenwlsn5 work out what you can on your own pace. Either way exercise is good overall what little bit you can do. I found out recently I can do 26 blocks in my town in 29 minutes! LOL Good Luck!

Sure if you like to walk or run. However some of us like to dance instead. Then again I love to walk but tis hard now that I have arthritis in my feet.

Running

I've found the best way to keep up with regular exercise is to just incorporate it into my daily routine - every single day, I take an evening run - usually just 3-5 miles, but enough to keep me physically active and to clear my mind. I'd recommend reading the book "Mud, Sweat, and Tears" by Moire O'Sullivan for inspiration (moireosullivan.com) - it has helped me keep up with my own running for sure! In short, she's the first person to complete the Wicklow Round in Ireland as a mountain runner, but she shows her journey from an amateur to a national title holder - quite impressive. Check it out! Maybe it will help you get into the exercise habit too!!

Well exercise is on hold for now. Not having money for bills and etc equates it not happy but must do what I can. Yet time will work it all out. Thank you for sharing Elise. Hugs
