I waited tables and bartended to pay my way thru college (that and student loans

) A couple of months before I graduated, the restaurant I was working for asked me to go into management. I declined since I was still in school and thot I was going to go to grad school. But, I couldn't decide what I wanted to go to grad school for (I have a degree in History and Psychology and minored in the Classics). So, a month after I graduated I took them up on their offer. Been in restaurant management for 3 1/2 years now still trying to decide what I want to be when I grow up.

Still tinkering with going back to school and attempting Law School tho. Took the practice LSAT twice on puter and scored a 152...so who knows

Worked for a time in the clerical field until it darn near drove me to the brink. Took some time away from that and taught myself about HTML and Web publishing. Largely self-taught.

It wasn't until I attended a series of workshops and was introduced to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Instrument that it became very clear why I was so dissatisfied with clerical work.

Now I am able to put my verbal, editorial, programming and creative skills to work doing something I really love!

I am continuing to hone my skills in programming and design and I am working in Information Technology. While the field continues to be dominated by men, women are carving a niche for themselves, and my experiences thus far have been positive! I have a loyal client base and my colleagues respect me on the basis of my abilities and never consider gender an impediment or an advantage. She (or he) who works hard advances.

Nice to finally be able to articulate ideas, be stimulated constantly (I need constant stimulus and IT is forever changing, so a great match there!), work either independently or as part of a team (as I or the project dictates), have flex time, and not really have to deal with the front line anymore. Nice also to receive recognition for one's contributions and ideas. Woooo hoooo!

(By the way did I mention I love my job?)

WA, I go through spells of loving my job and hating it. Right now, I'm sorta at a standstill with it. I neither hate nor love it. Guranteed to change daily. I work in the financial community. I train and mentor tellers and teller managers and supervise a group of tellers in a center.

Currently I am in the process of creating a managers technical guide for all newly hired supervisors. It started on a whim to help out a trainee I was mentoring and heaven help me, I have orders for 11 on my desk at the moment from current supervisors. Once those go out, I hate to see what the orders will look like. And since I also service the customers who come into our center, this hasn't been a top priority issue. I did partner with the head trainer and made her one so she can issue them to new trainees when they leave their initial training! I REFUSE to bring work home with me! Besides, it would interfer with my chat time

Why I started into banking? My mother told me I would love it! I must, I've been here 22 years and counting...I've had a host of positions here from, teller, teller manager, department manager, Field Operations Specialist of 20 locations(I absolutely loved this one!), Teller Leader over 7 centers with 30+ tellers and now, teller manager, trainer, mentor. It's what I do best....

I am firstly a full time mom, and secondly, I am a Marketing Rep., with a local publishing company. We publish Corporate Training manuals and HR materials.

I like my job, but LOVE the fact that I have found a job that I can work from home (it was very important to me to be with my kids) and that I can make fairly good money at. It is also something that I know I am good at, and that is a nice feeling.

I can't speak for others, but once I took the test (not online but by one actually qualified to administer the MBTI Instrument in a women's career workshop), and after I read articles similar to the two provided above, a lot more things started to make a great deal more sense!

Thank for the links WA. I took the test and ended up a Rational Inventor type. One of the careers they suggested is what I'm doing now, and the explanation of the personality type describes a big part of my personality.

I think I'll do some research on the other careers they listed, seeing as I have no idea what some of them are LOL Who knows? Maybe I'll run into something that will keep me focused.

I just recently entered back into the work force after being at home with my kids for the past 4 years. I work for a husband and wife team. He is a Physical Therapist and she does the Nutritional and Personal Training. I do just about everything that is required to keep the office going. Not sure if it is something that I will do for years but for now I love it!

That advisor site charges to find out the second two letters...there's a place to take the Keirsey for free, and I posted it yesterday in my folder (ScribeWOW's Oasis), but I'm on my way out the door and don't have the URL handy...
