Hurricane Irene

Just a quick jump in here to say that I hope everyone on the east coast of the U.S. is safe over the weekend. I'm sure we'll all be glad when we can say "Good night, Irene."

Ok this is confusing! I was told a certain person had died. Now I see them posting on here. Was I lied to or perhaps confused with who passed away!

Glad to see you ((((((( rjs, sistergirl, Wolf_Angel, jen, and all )))))))))

I believe Irene is down to a category 1 at this point. She's still dangerous but not quite as potent as she was at a cat3.

Please stay safe.. don't try surfing.. that is why there were 8 deaths here in FL because they tempted Mother Nature in all her fury.

fyi // Stock up on Water, non perishables, dry milk, batteries, flashlights, candles.. remember if you have a cell phone to plug it in while you can. If you have an old cell phone plug that one in also. YOu can't use it for other calls, but it can be used for 911 calls. Stay safe you're important remember that. objects can be replaced people can't be.

Thanks for the info IRISH ready and waiting out the storm! Also for those with special needs and meds keep a list of them in a zip lock bag. As well as a week supply of them with you! Hugs again

Girls, I live on the East Coast, so Irene scared me. I had a little damage, but it was minor. My heart goes out to those that weren't as lucky as me.

So much damage was done. Some lives lost, homes washed away.. My heart goes out to all that were affected by the storm. I hear/ see postings of people complaining that there was to much hype.. I don't think that they was to much hype. I watched a lot of it on CNN.. saw the damage all across the Eastern Seaboard. Saw the damage from Flash Flooding.. homes falling apart & being washed away.

Holy cow they even showed a business that was uprooted & moved down the road 2 blocks away.
Look at all those who will be without electricity for 2 weeks or more.

If it didn't affect you then count yourself blessed. If it did then I hope you get help and recover from it.

/me .. Goes off singing " Goodnight Irene goodnight Irene" ... Hope I don't see you in my dreams ....

Last night they showed a family .. father and 2 young kids they went out Jet Skiing.. lost control and almost lost their lives. The Jet Ski went over the water falls. Luckily they got scooped up. The father was in tears horrified when he realized how foolish it was for him to take them out in the rough waters from Irene. Sometimes I wonder why people think with their butts rater than with their brains. No sense at all. ... Am so glad they are are safe. Some weren't as lucky...

And speaking of idiots . . . last week I was driving home from downtown, came to a 4 way stop, so I stopped. A guy went cruising through the Stop Sign, and guess what he had up to his hear. I look every time I come to a stop sign or traffic light now. I think that drivers on cellphones are worse than drunk drivers. And just think about the people that leave bars and use their cellphone in the car - a double whamy.
