Music

what do you listen to, do you play an instrument perhaps, or sing in a choir?
tell me more

i am a percussionist with a focus on the african djembe, play with friends and on my own ( fortunately i have very tolerant neighbours )

as for listening, it varies so much, whatever mood i am in or what i am doing at the time.
not much i don't listen to. i don't watch TV at all, so i listen to music, and i mean actively listen, not just as a backround noise. like other ppl watch tv i sit down and listen ( or lie down )
no, i am not visually impaired, in case you are wondering LOL

Finally! I've met another person who listens to music the way I do! I never have background music. If I am going to listen to music, I get comfortable, close my eyes and LISTEN!!!

My dad taught all of us to do that. We'd be outside playing football with the neighborhood kids, come into the house for something and Dad would stop us. He's tell us that we really had to listen to the second oboe because he was so good. Trust me, growing up like that changes your whole perspective on listening to music.

aaaah brede, i know what you mean. more often than not it is impossible to discuss music with people because they don't "listen".
i do that with any kind of music, not just classical, it seems to hit the core of my being and resonate in a way that is hard to describe.

pleased to hear we are on the same wavelenght

My favorite "destressor" is to kick back and listen to music. I completely lose myself in it.

I agree brede, when I am truly stressed I turn on the classical station and just tune everything else out. I'm headed to do that soon. The weather here is foul and the drive home from work has me totalled!

I am going to do the same thing this afternoon. It will help ease my sorrow.

I couldn't agree with you more! Wow, music is everything for me. It's my life! It's great to hear that we all here on the same "note"! You can't understand music and it won't touch your heart and soul if you don't listen to it, really listen!
Brede, you said that it would ease your sorrow. May I ask you what is it?

If you look at the About Being a Woman folder, you will find the "are you having one of those days" thread, my posts are there. I can't write it out another time today. Sorry.

Oh, sorry. I didn't see it. I'll go look. Of course you don't have to write it twice.

Music can really help when I'm feeling down. Since Pirate is living with us for awhile, our house is full of music that he is writing. He composes some of the music on the computer and then records himself playing bass and friends playing the guitar parts. I am very impressed by what he is doing.
