WOW memeber with digestive and other health issues

Hi everyone at WOW
I am searching for any information on bland diets, recipe's for bland diets. I have been dealing with intestinal problems for years and over the last 8 months or so they have gotten worse. My Nurse Practioner bombarded me with many lab tests a few months ago for everything from Lupus to Rhuematoid Arthritus. The only thing that came up with a positive or negative result, depends on how you look at it was the Anca P. It was on the high side. Also my Globulin/Albumin results were off indicating inflammation in my body. For the Anca test it came up with Atypica P Anca Pattern is present associated with Ulceratice Colitis, Chrohns Disease, Scherusing Cholagitius, Autoimmune Hepatitis, RA, and Systemic Lupus. The test ruled out the RA, Lupus, and the Hepatitis. This is something that acts up on me, it's not something that is there all the time. My NP more or less blew the test results off, saying the results weren't enough to lead her to believe there was anything conclusive.
She was here today after I called and complained of me being sick for the last week with intestinal problems only now worse then they were when these tests were taken in October. She wants me to go in the hospital and have tests done for this, among other things.
Most of you know I have been dealing with health issues for many years. Along with panic disorder which has been keeping me from taking care of myself for years. I need a lot of tests done to find out what is all wrong with me and to be point honest I am scared you know what.
I have spent the last 3 hrs trying to find some bland diet recipes or anything I could find on the internet. I couldn't find much.
I need your support and help if you can give it to me. I haven't been online for 3 months and I know I haven't been here for you all but I need you all to be here for me now. I am sorry if it seems selfish but if I don't get what I need done I am afraid of the results. I am really afraid right now. They can't find out what is wrong with me until I get tests done. I need more then digestive tests done, they also want nuerology tests done for fear I have been having TIA'a, my tumors/cysts have spread all over my body, I have pinched nerves in my back, siatica in my leg and other issues.
I am so sorry to burden you all with this but I need my fellow sisters in WOW for support right now. I also have both my shoulders ruined which they want to do scat scans for. The list just goes on and on.
Most urgent is my stomach issues and I need to be able to eat without having the troubles I have. PLEASE IF YOU CAN HELP!!!!!!!!!!
I love you all

I think the problem is in looking for a "bland" diet. That's sort of broad and it's been changed quite a bit over the years. Different intestinal upsets call for different measures. I think a nutritionist might be a good idea. And, don't rule out that the panic and anxiety causes the stomach upset.

Also, and just as an aside, there has been a stomach bug going around that causes major issues. That might be the problem this past week.

In any event, I think you're looking for easily digestible foods as opposed to a bland diet, and even that will vary depending on the person. Yogurt is bland, but milk products don't agree with me at all, and yogurt makes me feel awful. You're going to have to try things, one at a time, to narrow down what it is that isn't agreeing with you.

Have you been tested for Celiac disease? That's easy to miss and causes a lot of grief for people. btw... It mimics many other bowel disorders.

You can always start from scratch with the BRAT diet. Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast. See if that agrees with you and then slowly begin adding foods. Plain broiled chicken, steamed veggies, etc. Also, I once read that a doctor invented peanut butter because he needed an easily digestible but high protein food. Not sure if that's an urban legend or not. Could be the peanut butter makers.

Also, if used on a regular basis, Metamucil, which many people think is only for constipation, can help regulate all sort of problems.

Keep in mind that I am certainly not a doctor and am not giving medical advice. Just a few thoughts off the top of my head.

I hope you can get your stomach issues under control. If only they could figure it out, then you could find other people with the same thing and find out what works for them. Hang in there, and post anytime! There are no rules about how often.

(((((((((Addie)))))))))

Hi there
I cannot and have never been able to eat bananas they give me heartburn along with acidy juices, along with other things. It has been decades since I have been able to enjoy a glass of orange juice.
No I haven't been tested for Celiacs disease but I have thought about asking about it. I though that was a problem with wheat products. Correct me if I am wrong. I can't eat veggies or fruit that have anything to do with a seed like veggie nor can I eat anything with skins veggie or fruit, it goes right through me. Even peanut butter sandwhiches have been doing a number on me lately. I can't eat anything fiborous either, including Metamucil. I am a person who has always loved her veggies from the time of a tot and that was far to many years ago to want to admit and that is upsetting that I can't eat them. I am going to try to make arrangements for a "nice" hospital visit for Febuary 4th. I don't want to end up like my father, his mother and my mother's father with part of her intestines taken out.
Thank you for your input.
luv ya Addie

Celiac disease is gluten intolerance. You're right, that includes wheat. It's very chic right now.

Okay, if it's seeds that bother you, how about diverticulitis?

So, if this is something that many people in your family have experienced, what the heck is it? Sounds genetic.

Again, I am not a doctor and make no claims to know anything. I just like to hear myself talk.

{{{{{Seo}}}}} I'm sorry you're feeling so crappy.

(((((seo, Addie, LiamFan )))))))))),

Seo, So sorry you're going though all of this. My older daughter has had a lot of similar problems over the past few years. Even to the point they thought it was her gall bladder, and had it removed. The problem increased. She was tested for the Chrones gene, ( it is in the family ) she does have it. She still has problems not quite as severe at this point.

Celiac desease runs along the line of all those things that disagree with you too.
Yes, get checked for the diverticulitis 2.

Good luck. It's awful to suffer that way. Sure hope they find answers and methods to cure it/ or help deal with it easier.

Good luck (((((( Seo ))))))) Sure hope they come up with ans that will help you.

You're right ((((((( Addie)))))))) Celiac is the one of the moment. I know several who have been diagnosed with that recently..

Maybe just maybe the additives added to the foods before the consumer gets them should be checked more closely. Just a thought.

You know, celiac is very real, though, and an endoscopy will identify it very clearly. There's no hemming and hawing....."oh, it could be IBS, erm..." about it. True there seem to be more diagnoses lately, but it is real.

I'm sorry if I made celiac sound less than real. That diagnosis has dramatically changed people's lives for the better! That cowardly rightwing she-whose-name-must-not-be-spoken from "The View" used to talk about it a lot, but I'll never hear another word about it from her because I won't watch the show without Rosie. Did you see how I managed to work that in there? Smooth as silk!

I was just trying to lighten Seo's load (oh jeez) a bit. She was obviously not in a good place last night. I reverted back to my WOW cheerleading days.

I understand.

I bet you can guess I have a personal stake in that trendy celiac diagnosis.

(((Seo)))) sorry to hear about the problem.

I know I have to watch many things that I eat...at one time the doctor thought I might have Colitis(sp)

My first cousin has had years of problems and is on very bland diet. I will write my Aunt tonite and get suggestions from her since he lived with her for a couple of years while attending Graduate Graduate Graduate school... LOL yes he is in his 40's now and recently got his own place again. But I know he still is only eating about 10 things.

What the doctor and dietian did was took all foods away and starting adding back basics one of a time and seeing if this cause problems or if that did. It took them like 3 years to get where he is today.

Anyhow hopefully Aunt with write back fast.

Celiac is very real. Glad that they found how to treat it.

Seo, hope that they found the cause, and cure for you soon. maybe finding the macaroni products that are not made with eggs or wheat would be a start for you.

Have they checked you for Celiac, as Liam says it can be found by an endroscopy.

Most grocery chains now have a gluton free secton. Even for cookies, pastas, breads as well as many frozen products as well.

Take care all.
