Ah, stashes of stuff...I now have rediscovered sculpty clay...It's a crafting clay that you can harden in your oven. No kiln, etc. Great for those of us who can't afford kilns, etc. So now, I have another craft that I'm picking up a stash for.

I made a clay mommy dog and her baby dog once...a LONG time ago....and found out my mom still has them!

A friend made us some star shaped dough ornaments, way back when everyone was doing that, and put our families pics inside each. They are ...what....about 27 years old now? I put them up every year!

I also remember the year my little brother made a decorated bar of soap (glued some kind of flower pic to it and sealed it with something or other lol) and our dog sniffed out the package under the tree and ATE it! LOL

....which has nothing to do with clay.....

I've always wanted to try out that sculpy clay stuff. I bought some once but it hurt my hands so much to use it that I just gave up.

The local artist group offers clay sculpting classes. I've been wanting to take the class for over a year, but there always seems to be something else that I'm supposed to do. Bah!

I'm over my head in yarn....... crochet lace yarn, funky afghan yarn, wool, you name it i have it.

Anyone know of something to crochet other than blankets and tablecloths? I hate knitting.

Yes Ayla, I crochet hats, oven mits, slippers and what else I can figure out how to do by the instructions. If not I just have fun til something catches my eye or mind and go from there.

You got me thinking Angel_wolf. A friend of mine said her favorite slippers were made from crochet granny squares. I may have to either find a pattern or try to create one.

I'm sorry, Cod. Here I go mentioning Sculpty clay, then leave you hanging on what I've made with it. So far, I've made some homemade beads (beaded curtains, bracelets, etc.), added 3-D waves on one of my paintings (on wood, no less), another "painting" made completely of clay on an old cookie sheet. Also, I've got the beginnings of some more 3-D "paintings" in various stages: hands, flowers, suns, the whole 9 yards.

I just bought my daughter a "knitting knobby" from a craft store. Does anyone rememeber "corking" from way back when? I used to cork all the time, its like knitting on a little round plastic thing, and all you get is a long tube of knitted yarn. Fun to do but you couldnt really make anything out of it. This new one is larger, and you can make winter hats from it. I will let you know how it goes.....

hey susie, I remember the knitting spool from way back. I also remember having great aspirations that I would make enough knitted snakes to produce a coiled rug. Always lost interest after the first 3-4 inches of snake.

I'm working on a petite point right now and starting to lose the ability to sit up right I am curled over so much. I have a small table top magnifier but I could really use one of the magnifiers that sits on the floor and can be adjusted to any height.

I can't believe no one has added to this in ages!

The local Ben Franklin store is closing (the owner is retiring). Since I've bought knitting stuff, etc. there in the past, I figure I'd pick up some more yarn...When I was in there a few days ago, everything was 35% off...Who knows what it'll be next week...But in the meantime, I'm, um, scarfing up on yarn for blankets and, um, scarves...
