Alright! Now I have a place to send everyone so we can Vet Bond

My details:

79th Combat Support Team
sometimes attached to 160th Special Operations Airborne Regiment, sometimes we were attached to DISCOM 101st Airborne Division (Air Assualt), Fort Campbell KY

Served as a UN Peacekeeper in Somalia for UNOSOM I and II (What a joke that was!) and lived on the Airfield (east side, near the Italians and Malaysian Fighting Tigers. We were about 1/6 mile from the Indian Ocean. You know, where all the RPGs and Mortars fell.)

Member of the VFW and DAV.

i'm in awe! i was in the marines, but never got to see anything. i spent two years specializing from aviation electronics to radar electronics. i went thru 3 diff schools, only to be kicked out right when i was destined for a stint in hawaii. sucked big time, but i still love the marine corps! my little girl has one of my covers - she wants to be an "army artist" when she grows up. i'm not sure what that means, but at least i know she has some interest in the military.

Hey I got orders to Hawaii too! Which were deleted because I was mission essential in Africa, that MAJORLY sucked. I didnt mind when my orders to korea were deleted though.

What base were you stationed at? In the states I was 101st Airborne ! (hooooorah!)

I spent six years in the Navy (83-89) as an electronics tech. Has some good times and am glad for the experience.

even tho i was in the marines, i was stationed on a navy base - H&HS 90, MATSG 90, NAS Millington. that's how i ended up living in memphis. it was a little wierd being on a navy training base, living w/a handful of marines. we pretty much did whatever we wanted, b/c most of the navy ppl thought we were crazy & didn't want to mess w/any of us.

Since the Marines are part of the Navy, why is that unusual?

It is interesting how different each branch of the military is. I spent 6 weeks on an AirForce base in Mississippi. The people were really nice and the school was much more relaxed than the Navy schools I had attended.

Hey, blueyesco, that's the impression I got too, talking to my dad (Air Force), my brother-in-law (Army) and my nephew (Navy).

ok, technically, the marines are part of the navy. but they are worlds apart. they are often stationed together, but the rules they play by are totally different. same w/the attitudes - much, much competition.

I was delighted to find this page.Have yet to see another female vets site but I am on a really slow library comp w/ a 45 min time limit.My particulars: Served US Army, A co 511 MI Bn 207th MI bde. Attached where needed. Stationed in Europe the majority of my time, one year in Gulf states, one year in Serbia. Joined VFW but my local was a lot of old men surprised that women aren't still WACs.Hope I haven't broken any protocol introducing myself here first.
